Nissan GT-R Spec V Spec Sheet Leaked?
The guys over at Best Car Japan have made a one Godzilla of a discovery which seems to reveal the spec sheet for the new Nissan GT-R Spec V.This scooped spec sheet reveals the guts for the new Godzilla V spec GT-R. The will be the GT-R's brother coupe and will most likely give drivers a more thrilling drive with its slimmed down weight- rumored to be around 220lbs(can the 0-60 get any better?), and a modified / more aggressive all wheel drive system. If you can translate Japanese feel free to do so in the comments!

For some reason I cannot click on the article, but if I can see right, it says 520 ps?! That is an insane amount of power in the car. Sub 3 seconds 0-60 probably, which is just wild.

This car looks pretty much the same as earlier report:

http://www.egmcartech.com/2007/05/10/scans-of-nissan-gt-r-models-surface/

I'd think NISSAN will also put up carbon fiber roof other than front hood.

When the first test results of the GT-R were released my colleagues and I were highly suspect of the claimed "480hp" rating it was given from the factory. The tests have shown that the 3800lb car can do a 3.3sec 0-60mph pass and three numbers do not add up.

There is a statistical formula that we use in the industry to that combines 0-60/weight/crank hp by taking data from hundreds of previous models and generating a regression.

After running the numbers I came up with estimated actual engine power value of approximately 570hp. Taking into account a 17% drivetrain loss that will give about 473awhp if measured on a chassis dyno.

Only a few days later it was revealed that a GT-R had been dyno tested at 475awhp which was right in line with my calculations. With an AWD drivetrain the losses will be around 15-20% so assuming 17%, actual engine power is around 573hp.

Keep in mind this is the STANDARD GT-R. This new V-Spec edition claims 512hp which is about 30 more than the standard GTR. Given the tendency that Nissan has of understating its powerful engines, expect that the GT-R V-Spec will produce in excess of 600hp at the crank. My estimate would be 600-610hp measured at the engine.

Going back through the statistical regression, given a 220lb weight loss and 610hp at the crank, expect the GT-R V-spec to pull approximately 3.0sec flat 0-60 time assuming gearing and shifting are the same.

I couldn't see the article either and for a second, I was stoked at the 1260 figure on bottom, hoping that'd be the weight, but no, I guess it was the 1640 up top. Man, even with the 220lbs drop, it's still a porker isn't it? It's like a younger Shaq: big and powerful, but freakin quick.

#'s def didn't add up. I was thinking the Launch Control activated a diff locker and increases the turbo boost to provide such numbers; especially by Edmunds. Or simply the HP numbers by Nissan are after drive train loss. Either way Nissan did not disappoint!

In the current Best Motoring they didn't use Launch control in the 0-400m, at that they had a hard time breaking the 12 seconds mark.

Edmunds used launch control if i can remember going @ 3.3 @60 mph.

I wonder if a V-Spec could beat a 911 GT2?The front looks a bit tacky.

also, does any one other than me agree that the GT-R should have kept the air dams beneath the headlights?

Since the fastest GT2 lap time is 7:32, it's very likely V-spec can outdo it. I also suspect the output will be 530+ hp.

I agree w/ you on the location of air dam, however it might starts to look like Z.

If you thought that was impressive, check out these 2 videos where best motoring pits the GTR against the Lambo SL, 911 turbo, 911GT3, and NSX-R. The first video is a 0-400 m drag race and the other is a 5 lap race

Wow that's insane. 520BHP and as Xero said considering there are still more variants to come. It's a real Godzilla.

btw a week ago i saw a (probably the first and only one in UAE) Silver Nissan GT-R R35. It was loaded on the recovery trailor. And time was something like 4:00 AM in the morning.

and does it look good....It was Awesome. I was just stunned. It's got a great presence.

Its a hell of a car, but I still can't imagine myself in one... Its too geared towards performance and doesn't seem like it has creature comfort. I may be wrong...

It's so weird that if you give someone a fast car that is also pretty luxurious you think.. damn why can't it be more performance focused. I'm not bagging you out, it's a weird psychological thing.

I look at the new STi and how they add more luxury AND improve performance and only then do you start comparing it to a VW R32 and an S3, when previously you would have written them off as being sub-par on a performance scale. But now you go.. "they're a lot nicer on the inside" and they've become competitors now! (in my eyes anyway)
