I expect around 70+ grand for this thing..pretty damn good if you ask me, considering its nearest competitor 911 starts around $122 plus. At the same time it'll be better built, technology and innovation will be top notch, a thousand times more reliable and you save 50k~!!!!! Its a 100% winner in my book.

I don't know why anyone would buy this car when you could buy a Corvette Z06 and a John Deere Riding Lawn mower.

You could also pick up a 50 inch plasma from Wal*Mart as well.

It's all about value with me ;)

Way better, do tell?

And the dealers will jack people up on this car because of Nissan's inability to produce more than 2500 units for the USA.

Unless of course that's just marketing hype to get attention up!

aisersozedude - me thinks you are the naive one. You seem to forget the 4wd, a CD of .27, gear changes in .2 sec etc. I own a couple of M cars and like to think they are the best, but I've also owned the 3 previous versions of the GTR - I'm not naive enough to think I could take on a GTR. My R32 with minimal mods would slaughter m5.

Kaiser

With all due respect, it is much more likely that the numbers posted for the Zo6 are incorrect and the GTR times accurate.

I also happen to know that the Zo6 once over it's Grip Limits will kill You while the GTR is lots more manageable over the limit.

The GTR has always had one goal, which is to achieve hypercar performance figures and still be affordable to working class buyers.

With regards to Looks {Interior & Exterior}, those are subjective but i would hazard a guess that the only people who would prefer the design of the Corvette to the GTR are Baby Boomers or other Nostalgic Americans who like Retro Looks on Everything.

I Think the GTR beats the Zo6 in every single category.

But of course, thats just my Opinion

hypercar performance? its touching supercar territory. What makes you think its a hypercar? Please remember, the days of supercars hitting 190 and doing 0-60 in the mid to high 3s is over. Super cars do well above 200mph and does low 3s.

I'm not bashing the GTR, but its just not hypercar. Supercar, yes, but hypercar, thats a long stretch.

Its a great (understatement) car, but theres got to be more that you guys should argue about.

For a few penny's more you can get an Audi R8 with that gorgeous interior and exterior and heads will turn.

The typical drive of the GTR will be a showoff driving 80 in a school zone.

Lets not get to Nissan over Audi in racing heritage.

"The GT-R has a rich racing heritage. The same cannot be said for the R8."

You don't think Audi has a racing heritage???

This is a touchy point with me, GT-R vs. R8. Yes, I know the GT-R gets better numbers AND it's cheaper, but the R8 seduces me. It's sex on wheels, to put it bluntly. Its performance is more than enough for me (0-60 in 4.0??? Since when is that slow?). Its handling is excellent. It's comfortable to use every day. Its interior is beautiful. So, yes, I would get the R8 over the GT-R. But I still respect the Nissan for its prowess.

I didn't say anything before that, and don't call me an idiot. That's just silly.

It is obvious that Audi has a lustrous racing heritage. The R8 is NAMED after a freaking five-time LeMans winner. The R8 just came out THIS YEAR, so how could it possibly have won races in the past?

ThierryHenry14ThierryHenry14 - 11/23/2007 4:27:36 PM
0 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
GTR has no racing heritage. Its predecessors yes, but this one, no. Just like the R8. It has no race heritage, but its derived from racing R8s.

So if you put it like that, they both have no racing heritage. but yes, they are both derived of race cars.

S4cabriofoxoneS4cabriofoxone - 11/24/2007 12:01:43 AMView My AgentSpace

"We were discussing GT-R vs. R8, not Nissan vs. Audi so yeah, you're the idiot for jumping to conclusions."

I think it's quite immature of you to call me an "idiot" for making a claim that is obviously relevant in this context. YES, Audi has racing heritage. Therefore, the R8 does, too. How is that any different from saying the RS4 or A5 having racing heritage? Of course, no street cars they sell right now are racing as we speak, but the R8 carries just as much history as the rest of the lineup, if not more. Besides being based off a Lamborghini, I also stated that it IS named after a five time LeMans winner.

I also think it's silly to be arguing over this. Who cares whether or not the GT-R and R8 have "racing heritage" as long as they're both awesome sports cars? Don't you think "heritage" is a stupid argument, being a Lexus fan? I don't use it, either, because it ISN'T an argument. Any car can f*ck up overall, "racing heritage" nonwithstanding.

"The GT-R is currently in its fifth generation. What generation is the R8 in??? Enough said. Don't make yourself look any more stupid."

But why does that matter? Again, I mention that you're a Lexus fan, and Lexus fans vehemently argue AGAINST "heritage." So why are you turing the tables? Are you trying to indirectly deny that the R8 is an amazing car? Well, #1, it doesn't compete with the GT-R. And #2, you know you want one as much as the next joe. That includes me.

Lexus_Admirer, I believe you forgot to read the rest of ThierryHenry's post:

"GTR has no racing heritage. Its predecessors yes, but this one, no. Just like the R8. It has no race heritage, but its derived from racing R8s."

He addressed the Skyline predecessors. We're talking about what's available NOW.

ThierryHenry14ThierryHenry14 - 11/24/2007 9:27:37 AM
+1 BoostDrop the Boost Up the Boost
Lexus Admirer, you have no clue about cars.

Well, its obvious a car in its first generation will have no racing heritage. A car in its fifth generation will have no racing heritage, because its a completely different car. Until the GT-R competes in the Japan Super GT, then it will have racing heritage.

My point is, if you are picking out a car on car basis, then they are both new cars, and it doesnt matter what generation they are in, these two cars in particular have no heritage.

But yes, s4cabriofoxone is absolutely correct.

By the way, Wikipedia, in case you do not know, is posted by people, and anyone with an "account" can post. Its not the best source, as is noted by its poor english.

The R8's shape and form is derived from the Le Mans Quattro concept. The name/engineering is derived from the R8 racecar.

Last thing, get a life, its a car. Don't defend it with your life.

THIS is the only thing I wrote about the LeMans racer, "Admirer:"

"Of course, no street cars they sell right now are racing as we speak, but the R8 carries just as much history as the rest of the lineup, if not more. Besides being based off a Lamborghini, I also stated that it IS named after a five time LeMans winner."

Did I once say they had anything in common BUT the name? "...it IS named after a five time LeMans winner." That's it. I'm going to act my age and refrain from calling you childish names, but take it or leave it. My opinion--and the facts that back it up--are just as logical as yours. You just have to accept it.

MILD wet track. Re-read my comment. Obviously the number that people are referring to is not on a rainy track, just a damp track. For an AWD vehicle, that is just like a dry track, as long as there's a skilled driver.

This car has got such a presence, those big fat tires, meaty muscular aluminum body, metal like paint finish, some very high quality materials (especially on the outside), and clearly the those big round lamps on the back give this car a very masculine and dominating presence. I like Porsches but i always thought they looked a bit chick type, and did not exude of power, like the new GT2 does. But i also like this nissan very much. The only problem is the wallet in my pocket, it's totally empty just like my dream of owning a GTR is.

let me clear it up for you folks..

Corvette= loser midlife crisis car made by GM, he shittiest cr compnay on the planet. Technology shared with a malibu and big pushrod technology from the 1970s (7 liters= 500HP. hahahah)

Nissan GTR = awesome car, you are paying for thhe technology, interior wil be crap, but a cool interpretation of a classic. nissan though not much above GM in terms of crappy car company making compromises pretty much its whol
