Nissan GT-R pricing increased for 2009

Nissan has announced that it will increase the price of the 2009 Nissan GT-R.

Nissan said the price increase is due to the increase cost of raw materials. Pricing for the Nissan GT-R now starts at $76,840 for the base model and $79,090 for the GT-R Premium model. Prior to Sept. 5th the Nissan GT-R started at $69,850.

The Nissan GT-R’s iPod option saw a price increase to $400 from $360.

To date Nissan has sold 70 percent of its first year allocation for the U.S. of the 480-hp car. Deliveries begin on July 7, 2008.

I am pretty sure the price increase will not be a issue...the car still competes with cars that are more expensive...Naturally everthing goes up anyway just because of inflation, and cost of materials have gone up

I hope the GT-R replaces their cheap plastic in the center front console with this increase. I say no to 350z type plastic!

Maybe they got smart and didn't want to give all the "market adjust" markup to the dealers. Dont know if this effects what the dealers pay. I'm sure it must have gone up some. BTW at Porsche dealer yesterday looking at 911 turbo cab and salesman was talking about new 911 double clutch and how great. Then he said that its not clunky like that Nissan G---T R. Like he didn't know the name. Right. Pretty sad when the Porsche sales guy has to bring up Nissan. Shoulda taken the high road. Besides some people looking at 911 turbo my not even be aware of the GTR until the Porsche salesman brings it up. "OH really. Whats that. Maybe I should look at it."

LOL... at Nissan trying to cut the loses they have from artificially setting a lower than cost price for this car in the first place. Poor bastards.
Anyway, if I were Nissan I would worry about selling this car after the increase in price especially considering that all the GT-Rs marked up(even slightly) started to collect dust in dealerships. LOL...
It appears that in spite of the amazing amount of hype surrounding this car not many people seem to be willing to pay big bucks for this cheaply built Japanese econo racer.
In this price range Porsche is still the no 1 choice baby!

And this japanese econoracer is faster around top gear track , nurburgring , ... than porsche carrera gt (!!! with has 600+ hp , 3000Ib ), 911 while being more comfortable at every day driving ( latest motor trend tests ) , one magazine even said that it feels like sentra in every day driving and yes before you say something about your obsession - interior materials quality , I will admit : porsche has better plastics , materials in the interior . And Porsche has better racing history ( of course this isn`t important for you Star , racing cars have bad interior quality ) but when it comes to technology this nissan gtr is absolutely amazing , and it has character also - every day sentra , on track racing car .

I drove the GT-R, Champ... and it was more disappointing than I even thought it would be. You are arguing with me from an inferior position so just let it go. The GT-R is as I said before nothing but an econo racer. Is fast, but it fails at absolutely every other level from built quality to driving involvement. It's only a lowly Nissan and unfortunately drives like one. To put this POS in the same sentence with ANY Porsche is a sacrilege.

The price increase of Godzilla due to higher commodity prices will not have a direct impact on buyers. The dealer markups are greater than the 10% price increase. The median markup in the U.S. is 10K and here in Canada the markup is over 15k with the Canadian GT-R MSRP at $81,950.As commodity prices have fallen for the last three weeks the question is will the current price increase be temporary.

It's a monster car. Wouldn't mind having one. I always thought it was ugly as hell until I saw one in person. Love it. Nothing cheap in this car star. But we all know you're a basher. You offer no value to this site. You should be banned. I've never seen you have anything positive to say. Grow up.

Their trying to move up market so they can place themselves close to the new NSX and the supposed LF-A cars.

I personally would spend that kind of money on a luxury car and pay for quality and spend more on an exotic from Europe (ie. Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini) which in turn gives me the assurance of a quality top notch build.

The last time I checked, Ferrari and Lamborghini do not even register on JD Power surveys so I don't know where you get this false sense of "assurance of a quality top notch build" from.

I've been in most of the exotics except the Veyron, Enzo, Pagani and the likes. I've took a spin in the GT-R as well so just by touch, the sound when I tap on it, and look, it appeared cheaper.
