More expensive car = larger engine = larger sump = More oil = more expensive :)

I agree. The cost of regular maintenance can be a big factor. I guess Nissan thinks that if you can afford a GTR you can afford the oil change.

Exactly. I agree with Opfreak on this one.

As for the brake pads changes costing $3,500 and 4 tires for $4,000 is outrages. That is too much. How much are brake pads and tire changes for a Porsche 911S? I remember that Porsche's brakes and tires are expensive, but I don't believe they are that expensive.

Although still very expensive, it said it replaced the rotors as well. Rotors arent cheap. Also, they are 20" run-flat tires. Yes, still very expensive, but have you ever heard of 20" run-flats? I havent...

These are inflated dealer costs on something that's already expensive. It's like buying 18" OEM wheels. Normal 18's may run 175-300 a piece. You'd be lucky to get OEM wheels under $400-500 a piece.

I am not surprised by this and not because it's a GTR. This is how Nissan is (partly) making up for their poor financial results of late. My winter beater is a 1992 NX2000 and I would always get my oil change at Nissan. It would cost me $37 plus tax for a filter and dino oil. I was just in their the other day for a pre- winter change and it cost me $58 plus tax!!! (I live in Vancouver). I almost %&$% myself. That's a 57% increase!! For what? I could have been ok with a 10% increase but this was ridiculous. The service guy gave me VIP pricing and I ended up with a small discount but I won't be going back there again. I live in a Condo so doing it myself is not possible. I will be buying the filters from now on and take the car to a cheap garage. Any other Nissan owners here with the same experience?

I've become accustomed to the GOC (Glorified Oil Change)as of late. In my modern vehicles, I do it myself. It's just the same as an old fashioned change except you must own an OBD II reader with a reset function ($25 at harbor freights). The problem is many manufactures will void the vehicle's warranty if the service is not done by the dealer during the warranty period. I've learned to put up with it until the warranty runs out.

I beg to differ.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits dealer/automaker from doing that. As long as you maintain the proper records of oil change (either by yourself or a certified mechanic), there is no way any dealer/automaker can void your warranty for not doing the oil change in their dealership.

You're absolutely right, I was completely off base with that. Should have said if the consumer did not throughly document the oil change, the warranty provider may have grounds to deny a warranty claim due to lack of maintenance and in such a case, cause headache for the consumer who could most definitely fight a battle like that and win with any competent attorney. The question is whether or not a warranty provider would deny coverage in such a case to play the odds. This is *definitely* not unheard of. Municipalities play this game all the time with traffic citations, insurance companies do this all the time with your coverage, ect.

Its expensince because they now that rich idiots that have no tool know-how, will pay it.. Half of the idiots on this site pay for the oil changes at that price. I pay for oil and a filter and do it myself...like all enthusiast should do. You become more apart of your cars living, and its much more gratifying.

And yah..knowone that I know voids the warrantee if you do the work yourself. Idiot, lazy noob.

My complex does not allow 'auto repair' in the lot (includes oil changes) and my car is too low to the ground for ramps, so I'd have to use a jack. No thanks I'll spend the $30 and keep my hands clean.
