Nissan recalls 140,000 Altimas

The Japanese automaker decided to recall 140,582 of its 2007 Altima cars after problems with the air filter were reported.

The air filter can catch fire if hot objetcs are drawn into it and this problem will recall only for the 2.5 liter engines.The problem was discovered in February and since then 4 fires were reported.

Looks what happens when a western company influence a japanese company. I dont remember Nissan having those kind of problems before Renault's take over.

As an AUTOBLOG member put it, this isn't an issue of the Altima, it's an issue of DUH. The problem is with the people who throw their cigarettes out their windows onto the highway. If something that's burning gets caught on something that is flammable (be it paper filter or a forest) it's going to catch fire.

These fires are being caused by people, not the car themselves...

Since when did Nissan's catch on fire? Are you kidding me. 85-88 Maxima's were bombs waiting to ignite. The had problems with their injectors and many caught on fire. Mine caught on fire along with a relatives car which happened to be the same. Nissan's sure aren't the most reliable but they are the most fun to drive from all the other Japanese.
