We see nothing wrong with Nissan’s 332-hp 3.

7L VQ37VHR engine with VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift). In fact, we think it’s one of the best engines on the market next to the BMW’s award-winning 3.0L inline-6 twin-turbocharged unit.

However, Nissan’s powertrain engineering division manager, Tetsuya Takahashi, has indicated that his department is closely studying the possibility of turbocharged engines in their next generation of Nissan vehicles. Speaking to Motor Trend, Takahashi admitted that Nissan is looking to return to smaller displacement engines mated with turbochargers to increase performance and fuel-efficiency.

Of course, that has many Z fans dreaming of a possible future...
