OFFICIAL: Production Mercedes GLK pics
The new Mercedes-Benz GLK is set to make its debut at this weekend’s Beijing Motor Show but the first images and details of the car have already been leaked.

The compact SUV was first previewed at the Detroit Auto Show back in January in concept form and as expected the final production car remains almost identical to the original show car.

It's alright, definitely better than X3 in my opinion. I really like the interior which I wasn't really expecting. I wanna see it in person before I make any official judgement though.

Since they took the styling from a KIA I think they need to make the price the same as a KIA aswell.

Nice looking vehicle inside and out. Glad it's being made in Germany.

Looks like they took a C-Class jacked it up & squared it off on the edges...Not very attractive at all; though the interior is a step up from the C-Class.

Mind you what really is attractive in this class-range?

X3 looks like a shoe, GLK looks like a box, the LR2 actually looks pretty good, & the EX would be hot IMO if it weren't for its close resemblance to the Hyundai Veracruz.

As MunichRob pointed out, in this segment, you cant expect much. I agree. The BMW X3 is a clown car, the LR2 a luxo Ford Escape, the EX37 is...i love this comparison...a coffin, and we have to wait on the Audi Q5, which we can assume will at least have a nice interior. But this new Merc is lacking in my opinion.

Same cheap C-class buttons and materials. That chunk of wood on the passenger side dash is vulgar and way too much. It also looks cheap as hell. And the huge plastic pieces sticking out on the doors and dash dont look soft to the touch. The climate controls are way too low (and blocked in park), and I hate that there's no center console storage (also absent on the C-class). And as with the C, I hate Mercedes new steering wheels. They obviously have reserved the best ones for the AMG's because those are stunning and these are boring.

Regarding exterior: Mercedes Forester. Enough said. The wheels are nice though. But the car looks like an odd wagon, not a sporty SUV.

Overall, I think this is a letdown. The only plus is that Mercedes finally understands that people in America that drive SUVs love their big gulps, so great job on the cupholders guys. They're the first thing I noticed. However, they rob the passenger an armrest, and give the driver a hard plastic one.

I want to like it, but I just can't. It just looks messy.

Chip, why don't you tell us how you really feel? How can you tell hard surfaces from a photo? At least wait until you get inside to make that determination.

Seems like a lot of the problems you have with the car are just personal preference. I, for instance, like the "vulgar" wood and the looks of the doors and dash. I also like the look and feel of the C class buttons and plastics.

I think th exterior looks rugged and boxy in a way that's reminiscent of W124's and W140's.

I do agree with you wholly on one issue. I HATE THOSE STUPID CUP HOLDERS!!! I enjoy the gizmo style cup holder on my W210 because it hides away, holds cups fine and keeps out of the way of the driver's arm. These cup holders seem to have none of those qualities.

Gooch

"How can you tell hard surfaces from a photo?"

Take a seat in the new C-class and you'll see the how much hard plastic there is.

Chip,

I've driven the C-Class, and you're right -- there is plenty of hard plastic in it. I was shocked! My E46 3-series is WAY better in that regard. But all I'm saying is how can you tell from looking at a photo whether the plastic is hard or not? It wouldn't surprise me if Mercedes upgrades it. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't.
BTW, I actually like the wood. The only way I'd consider it vulgar is if some chick paddled my ass with it.

Looks ok, but still nowhere near as good loking as infiniti EX35 both inside and out. Even i'll place LR2 ahead of it.
And i agree it looks like last generation subaru forestar. MB should have made it more like baby GL.

chip wtf are you saying if you realy drove the C you would never say it feels cheap , yes boring but not cheap at all , materials feel very upscale comparing to any car in that class , you're probably just a sick hater , some people are right , this looks meanish and cool not like womans handbags fkn ex and all those little women suv's , the interior looks gorgeous , chip just next time say it's your oppinion, because everyone is so fucking jelous of someone when they do good , and they try to put it down , i love itand personally give it 5 stars even though it's not my tye of vehicle at all

I hope you realize you just ranted like a crazy person at me.

Everything I say on this site is my own opinion. While I strongly dislike this car (and most of the lower benzes) its perfectly alright if you like it.

I may of gotten out of hand with the nitpicking, but there's no need to be so defensive. You like it, I dont. Who cares?

A cars appearance is an expression of its driving attributes. The interior follows. Note the GLK is also made in Germany.Looks to me like Benz has shaken the Chrysler thing and gone back to being Benzs. This car seems spectacular. What the matter with every one. This is the finest 4wd ever. TImeless excellence. But I could find fault with it.Its said to be an X3 competitor. Does that mean it wont fit me at 189cm. What about me 2 boys, likely to be the same height? Dont tell me I have found the definitive family car but it wont fit? Ahhhm having a downer.....
