Monopoly, I think you're right. Envy is a nasty human trait. And, unfortunately, we have a president who rather than unite the country, prefers to pit American against American by promoting class warfare. Couple Obama's reckless rhetoric with a poor economy and a culture that promotes entitlement over personal responsibility and you have all the ingredients for social unrest. And, it won't just be the "uber-rich" that are targeted by the unproductive class and politicians looking to exploit them for political gain. Obama has determined that anyone who earns 250K per year (half that after taxes) is "wealthy" and not "paying their fair share".

MBCLS07, Yeah.... Blame everything on Obama. And class warefare is what the ultra wealthy (not $250k/ year and below earners) have been waging against the middle class and the poor since the beginning of time. How else do you explain the ever widening wage gap? Money in politics is how, and this has been happening long before Obama took office.

Entitlements? Without them you would have to bullet proof your CLS in fear of someone kidnapping you. The ever increasing wage gap doesn't help either (more desperate people). But hey... If that's the America you want? I'm all in :)

1. Your experience of communist Vietnam is that of an authoritarian government using the theory of communism and its populist appeal as propaganda. you, along with anyone else, do know the first thing about actual communism unless you have read the communist manifesto; and judging by what you say, you clearly haven't. Just so you know, and you can check if you'd like, communism explicitly values hard work, and nowhere does it say that the state owns everything. If you work harder, you earn more and get to own more -I'm serious read it it's a small booklet-. It was devised as a fair system to counter the feudalism that existed in most of Europe at the time.
2. Either your cousins in France are lying to you, or you have made them or what they said up! I am a doctor, living in Paris, I earn a lot, pay a large sum in taxes, and I wouldn't want it any other way: our healthcare system is the best , and as a doctor i do not have to choose a course of treatment for my patients according to what suits the insurance company, or worry whether that company will manage to weasel its way out of paying, or if the patient does have some form of coverage. Our education system is the best because it gives everybody rich or poor a proper education, and a fair shot at making it in the competitive labor market: it is so good in fact that the existence of private schools and universities is fairly questionable and honestly only people who are not good enough to get into a public program based on merit, pay private institutions to get a somewhat comparable education.
3. Read "the social contract" by Jean-Jacques Rousseau and maybe you'll understand why we obey laws and pay taxes, and I honestly think you will be convinced by this brilliant book.

the only unfairness in a free market society is that not every participant is willing to take advantage of it. No one talks about individual ability, skills, intelligence and capacity to succeed. Given a free market economy the ones that are ready to take advantage and be successful will, and the majority will either be too busy watching the Bachelor or Glee or simply not put enough effort into becoming successful (the million excuse syndrome). The main reason for disparity is not the "evil" and "crooked" rich people stealing from the poor. It is MOSTLY the incapacity of the poor. Does anyone remember from the primary and secondary school years, how many kids in school exceled? there were certainly not the majority. It is the same in all aspects of life, and most clearly in sports. We have Bolt, the sprinter, as a perfect example. How many of us can perform at his level??? yet none of us question his legitimacy because he deserves his success based on his skills. So how is it that we envy and tarnish every single successful person that because of their hard work has become wealthy? Sure, there are crooks, but they exist at every socio-economic level. The problem is our government who have found that public office is an easy way to get rich by bending rules such as insider trading for congressmen. THEY have bent the rules for self profit.
Obama IS pushing a class separatist agenda because it plays into the scheme were ever more desperate Americans will be more likely to accept a more radical government (read outright SOCIALISM) than a traditional Federal Republic. Despite all the failures EVIDENT by the downspiral of socialist Europe, people in the US are still blinded by Obama's misleading charisma that is believed by less and less of his own followers.

- But the lower level crooks cannot bring down entire economies. Amazing how you try to equate the wealthy crooks with poor crooks (that’s just another way the brainwashed protects the wealthy). They are two completely different animals. Bernie Madoff's ponzi scheme effected thousands of families and had much more reach, than a crackhead stealing a TV.

Lexsucks, it sounds as if you are almost sympathetic toward lower level crooks even though they exist in many orders of magnitude greater numbers.

Far more people are killed/raped/stolen from every year by lower level criminals. This isn't to say wealthy people have a get away free card, but it is to say that the crimes that they do commit are not as serious of a nature or as common place. And yes, I unlike you apparently do place human lives above jobs.

- Yeah but the lower level crooks cannot bring down an entire economy like the wall st crooks. Upper level crooks can affect people in ways (investments and savings) that lower level crooks can only dream of. And how am I being sympathetic towards lower level crooks? If that’s the case, then you are being sympathetic to upper level crooks by trying to downplay their thievery and claiming that lower level crooks do more damage

It is truly amazing that in 2012 there are still people, e.g. nvme and LexSucks, that will make excuses for and actually support communism. Unreal. Even if one were to fall for communism's utopian, highly flawed philosophy, to still support the ideology after witnessing it's devastating implementation in the 20th century is inexcusable, both intellectually and morally.
