Official: 2009 Audi A3 restyle
Audi has revealed the new face of the A3 range with the unveiling today of the 2009 A3 and A3 Sportback.

The A3 has been a stunning seller for Audi since the launch of the first generation model back in 1996, with over 1.9 million units built since then, and the latest facelifted version is likely to continue that success thanks to a raft of new technologies not normally found in this segment.

The new A3 lineup is now available with Audi’s S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, magnetic ride adaptive suspension and parking aids both front and rear.

nice looking, aggressive front body redesign & r8 LED-look headlight, if the article mention those photo are A3 Sport, i will say these are next-gen S3.

This seems like a GTI with a very high price and fancy duds. It has not sold well in the US like most Audis and I doubt this update will change that.

The only reasn it hasn't sold well is because...

1. They don't allot many here.
2. It's a hatch! The Mercedes C-Class hatch and BMW 318is didn't work out either. I've noticed that the A3 is at least very popular in the city.

A3s are everywhere in San Francisco. This cosmopolitan crowd appreciates small cars with style. I wonder how the 1 series will do here.

I also saw them EVERYWHERE in Vancouver recently. I wonder if they sell well in Canada generally?

@1970toyota

Seeing as the 1-series has zero style, probably not very good.

So they are bringing the 5-Door S3?

I doubt we will see the S3 Sportback here in the US which is a shame. A3s popular in LA as well.

Headlight Cluster too busy for me

Prefer the current design of the A3.

Do not need LEDs on all their models, you can see this is a design compromise.

I think it would look much better with the old grill....

I think this car will get more and more looks as gas prices continue to climb. Looks good (without the teen tuner vibe of the GTI), drives great (seriously fun!), and more than enough room for most people's needs, all in a relatively fuel efficient package.

Agreed. With gas prices now easily past $4.00 per gallon, the A3 makes a very strong argument for itself. Not only do you get great gas mileage, its has very nice power, fun to drive and handle, rich interior appointments, quite spacious, and it is still an Audi. I have the 2.0T for daily communting in LA and it is perfect. I average about 350 miles per week and fill up every 1.5 weeks. Has been great economically while not compromising from a premium stand point.

I prefer the headlights of my A3 (wait for the next generation to properly integrate the LEDs!), but otherwise, a very good update.
