I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Official: Chevy Corvette ZR1 will produce 638-hp and 604 lb-ft
When the much anticipated Corvette ZR1 made its debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January, we were told that engineers are still messing around with the LS9 supercharged 6.2L V8 engine to hit a target of 620-hp and approximately 595 lb-ft. of torque.
The GM engineers are finally done messing around and the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will officially produce 638-hp (an increase of 18 over the original target) and 604 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 9 over the original). That means the LS9 puts out nearly 103 horses per liter. We still don’t have any official 0-60 figures however top speed will be just over 200mph.
The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will hit markets this summer with the MSRP to be...

The front end is hideous. Typical GM gaudiness.

Power levels are just astronomical in this day and age. I remember when the C4 Vette came out in 1983 with 205 hp and Motor Trend went all gaga over it. Hell, the High-Output Z-28 of 1984 had 190 hp. I believe the first Mustang GT of the 1980s had 175 hp or something similar. And now, normally aspirated four cylinder motors easily make just as much horsepower. And the Vettes have moved up to 638.
Progress...

Or was it 157 hp for the Mustang GT when Ford brought it back in 1982 or 1983? I got my numbers reversed.

Oh and I mean were prior to the 1972. We'll slowly start forgeting about the 80's and 90's if they keep making cars like this and the CTS.

Its a georgous car all around.
And it appears they changed the supercharger output by about 1psi. New pully wheel possibly?
This tells me that the new LS9 engine can take quite a bit of aftermarket abuse without failing.

205? haha the m6 got there with hans stuck on speed tv. Stock car. love it.. BMW get it s with 500HP.. poor old Gm needs a car with 683 HP and a plastic interior. the M6 is so much more desireable than a POS american car...

Where are all the GT-R fanboys? Let me beat you guys to the punch:
"The GT-R ran a 6:13 at the Nurburgring, in the rain, drifting, with a one-armed, one-legged driver who is blind. Let's see the Corvette do that!"
Does that cover the bases?
