I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Official pictures of the Chevrolet Camaro SS released
It’s about time! After seeing a weird picture of Fergie posing next to it, some amateur shots of it in the desert and one official shot - GM has finally released 8 high-res photos of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS.

No press release accompanied the pictures but we already know everything there is to know about the new Camaro SS. Power comes from a 6.2L V8 engine producing 422-hp with a maximum torque of 408 lb-ft.

Dealers will start taking orders next month with pricing to start right above $30,000. Buyers can also opt for the RS package which gives the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, a spoiler, specific tail lamps and 20-inch wheels.

Im generally not a gm/chevy kinda guy. But I like the new Camaro a lot and I think it shows why GM is flourishing product wise and why ford is floundering. In a time of $4 and above gas they release a 6.2 liter V8 car. They know that Americans are gonna keep driving the cars they love no matter what. We may drive a little less but we're still gonna buy them.
Ford on the other hand is moving to turbo 4's and 6's which while they are fuel efficient don't give you the same feel. There is no reason the otherwise very nice MKS shouldn't have a V8. I think the car companies should have some balls and continue to release cars that we like and will continue to purchase. They should calm down on the SUVS and release cars again.

If you look at it. The Camaro will get about the same fuel milage (if not better) as an infinti G37

The "Angel Eye" headlights are in the optional RS package along with some other appearance upgrades. The RS package is available on the SS or LT model.

THIS IS NICE i THINK THE SS VERSION SHOULD HAVE 450HP-500HP BUT i GUESS WITH ALL THE UPGRADES YOU ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET WITH THIS (EXHAST, POWERCHIP, COLD AIR INTAKE, ECU UPGRADE, PLUGS/WIRES, SUPER/TURBOCHARGERS ETC....) YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SURPASS THE 500HP MARK MAYBE EVEN 600 OR BETTER. BUT ALL IN ALL NICE PACKAGE i WOULD LIKE TO TEST DRIVE ONE ONCE THE GET TO THE DEALERS

I would also like to test drive one, but good luck with that. I'll bet the first years alotment will be sold out w/o testdrives. It'll be a year or two in to the production cycle before you'll have an SS sitting on the lot to be test driven. Chevy people will snatch this up no questions asked. I know a few people that already have deposits down on this before even seeing it in person. Just b/c it is a Camaro.

The car is very beautiful, and frankly, a modern six will out perform many of the smaller V-8s that were in the originals.

I suspect there will remain a small market for collectors who don't drive much but who dream of big-displacement engines. Increased fuel economy laws and fuel prices will drive customer preferences away from consumer preferences for V-8s.

Just look at Mustang sales, sixes far outsell 8s, and the performance is good.
