I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Official sketchs: Audi TT Speedster gets green light
Last week our friends at CarMagazine received a couple of official sketches of some of the upcoming Audi models. Leaked straight out of Audi’s Ingolstadt design headquarters, we saw sketches of the upcoming Audi A1, Audi R8 Spider and the Audi A7. Today we bring you a new sketch of the upcoming Audi TT Speedster.
According to AutoBild, Audi has given the green light to the Audi TT Speedster, which will be closely based on the Audi...

Obviously, I'm an Audi fan. But what's the point of a Speedster? Is that thing even street legal?

Speedster looks good, but I'd rework the fenders/wheel-arches to make it flow into the rest of the car's body better. Great concept. I wish Porsche would re-introduce a 911 speedster.

I nice concept but a little pointless. Not as practical as a TT, but no better in terms of perfomance... Audi should just build a proper light-weight sports car.

It will handle a lot better than the regular TT, lower weight etc.
Does anyone know what engine it will have? I reckon the S3 engine (2.0T with 260 hp), lighter than the V6.

I can imagine it being lower weight because of the lack of roof, but then there are rigidity issues. I also don't think Audi will bless it with an engine greater than it already puts in a TT. It also won't necessarily be a proper track tool either, as there is a lack of rollover protection. Amateur racing series probably won't allow it, and many public track days wouldn't allow it either. For those reasons I would reckon that people will only be buying on it's looks (it does look quite good) - but to me - that is the WRONG reason to buy a car.

Maindrian, what makes you think that a special edition of the TT wouldn't receive an equally exotic engine? I wouldn't be surprised if it got the rumored turbo five that Audi is developing for the TT RS, which will reportedly have about 350hp. Perhaps it would be de-tuned to 300 or so.
