I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Officially Official: 2008 Honda Accord Coupe & Sedan Revealed
Here is the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Yes folks, the most anticipated car of this year, the 2008 Honda Accord Coupe and Sedan, have broken cover and the cars will be hitting dealerships in Mid-September.

Both, the 2008 Honda Accord Sedan and Coupe, will be powered by three different engine variants. The base 2008 Honda Accord will be powered by a 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower. Moving up a notch, consumer will have the choice to opt for the 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower. The range topper will be a 3.5 liter V6 engine that produces a whopping 273 horsepower (that’s 29 more horsepower than the outgoing model).

The only difference between the Sedan and the Coupe is that the Sedan won’t come in 6-speed manual for the 3.5 liter V6. Other than that automatic and manual transmissions are available on both.

Love the front, just not so crazy about the short and slanted back.

Wow. I was surprised to see 16 mpg "City" for the V6 model. In real world driving this figure like all EPA estamates will be less

16/25?! What are they thinking, or more so what did they mess up on? Is that a typo? In an age where fuel economy is becoming more of an issue that is really going to hurt them (especially when Toyota, Saturn and any of the others start putting this in their ads).

Just for comparison, does anyone know the fuel economy of the Camry (non-hybrid) or the Aura?

These EPA estimates are calculated using the newer and more accurate "2008" method. Therefore, these numbers will be much more realistic. If they had used the old method, I'm sure there EPA estimates would have been better than the previous models EPA estimates.

Front on both look like combinations of the Element and Ridgeline. Rear on both are just horrible. It's a shame considering I've always admired the Accord. Tan interior in the sedan is stunning for its class though.

Just to clarify. All 2008 model's feul efficency ratings have been recalibrated by the EPA. That rating may be an increase over last year, but if you read closer, the rating with the VCM is 19/29 which is a vast improvement over last year with an increase in power. Well done Honda.

I think the Coupe looks great, but they missed it with the sedan design. It needs a longer wheelbase. I think that would give it a much better look, of course thats copying BMW styling cues. There are worse things in life than taking some advise from BMW, some of the best looking sedans in the world.

Absolutely Stunning for the expected price range it will be competing in. This is just a lot of car for that money and that is what sells!! At $30K, there are not too many cars that are offering so much....and a V6.

I am getting one in December. I will test drive one when its ready and in showrooms.

Look at the fit and finish of the interior. Its just fantastic and very Honda. They are going to sell tons of these.

No A/c ducts in the rear? Even the Rabbit has those at $15K. Any new car today has to keep that. It used to be a luxury car feature....now its supposed to be common.

Maybe it'll look better in person.

Still trying to figure out the V6 w/cyl deactivation. BTW, it gets 19/29 MPG & 268 HP.

From Edmunds/inside line:
"But Honda has thrown itself a curveball for 2008 by using a variable cylinder management (VCM) system on all V6-powered sedans. The VCM system can run the optional new 3.5-liter V6 on six, four or three cylinders, depending on driving conditions. Six is for uphill climbs and accelerating. Four-cylinder operation is for expressway driving. And the Accord becomes a three-banger for relaxed city cruising/coasting."

They also said this V6 was smoother than Toyota's & Nissan's V6s. Interesting.

Honda again wins the horse power race. The sedan is starting to definetly look like the Rl, the front has to go though. Personally I don't care about the car this just lets me know for sure the new TL will have a 3.5 liter producing 300+ hp and as long as it has nothing to do with this design i'm happy.

The Breeding program between the Saturn Aura and BMW 5er has gone terribly wrong. Just back away slowly.

Accord coupe looks better than the Altma coupe, but the Altima sedan looks better than the Accord sedan. The interior in the Accord is a class leader.
