Officially Official: 2009 Jaguar XF (with 51 images)
We were probably the most patient with Jaguar and their embargo of August 28th on the new Jaguar XF. After staying contact with Jaguar USA all day today we learned that the embargo is simply a game of time zones. So that’s why this is officially, and probably, the first official post on the 2009 Jaguar XF. Whatever the case, let’s get down to business.

The 2009 Jaguar XF will be available with two different engines, all featuring Jaguar’s six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddles for manual gear selection (Jaguar Sequential ShiftTM). The base 4.2 liter V8 engine will produce 300 horsepower giving it the ability to go from 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds. The range topper will be 4.2 liter Supercharged V8 engine that will produce 420 horsepower giving it the ability to go from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds. Top speed on both variants is limited to 155mph.

For the U.S. market, Jaguar will offer three trim levels including Luxury, Premium Luxury and Supercharged. The 2009 Jaguar XF is available to order now, depending on market. The first cars will be delivered to customers in March 2008...

*sigh*

I don't even like the engines :(

The 3.0 litre V6 is nearly 10 years old now and is originated from Ford. (yes it is a Mondeo V6) It's underpowered and NO match for anything Lexus, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, ..etc have to offer.

The 2.7 PSA diesel is a great engine but I wish it had more power to compete with the Germans.

The 4.2 litre V8 is basically the old 4.0.
The same goes for the supercharged version.

Enginewise it is a huge let down.

True the engines are slightly underpowered but 0-60 in the low 6 second range is NOT slow nor is 5.1 for the supercharged engine. I think you have to take in the car as a whole. I think it's a great effort and a very attractive car. No it does not look exactly like the CXF but then very few production cars do look exactly like concept cars. If I had the money I'd by it over an Jap or Korean. Frankly it's way more attractive then a BMW 5 series and more interesting then an Audi A6 or an E class Mercedes.
