Only 80 Veyrons left
t’s hard to believe that one of the most expensive cars in the world has racked up 220 sales in a little over two years but when you factor in that it’s also the fastest production car ever sold then it becomes a little more fathomable. Bugatti has received 220 confirmed orders for its supercar and so far 132 very fortunate people have had their cars delivered.

This also means that, based on the current production rate, the Veyron order books are full until well into 2009. Bugatti will only be building 300 Veyrons in total so that leaves only 80 cars remain, which many believe could be a new Targa model.

A totally impractical vehicle with the inconvenience of very limited range between fill-ups. It's funny how marketers of overpriced vehicles always claim that the first year production is sold out and there are only a few left (so hurry up and get your order in before it's too late). With Rolls Royce (re the ugly coupe), Bugatti (re the Veyron), and Bentley (re the Brooklands Coupe) all chasing a very limited market and all overestimating total life-cycle sales, someone will be caught with inventory in the final production year that will have to be cleared at a secret fire sale.

"300 cars... sales figure (max) of $40m"

I think at 1M a car (easily, which many exceeds it by quite a bit), that would be at least 300M no? if it took $150M to engineer, then it would be making a profit no? please get your math and information right.

Not only that ThierryHenry14, but VW and Audi have used a lot of the technology from this car themselves, so in a way, this car was a way of creating new advanced technologies and by selling the car they reduced their research cost if not even make a profit.

At this rate, VW will have sold more Bugatti Veyron's than VW Phaeton's. :-)
