If you’re wondering how the Astra Sport Hatch will look, wait no more as the car’s chief designer has spilled the goods. Malcolm Ward, head designer, said that it would be almost identical to the concept sketch. Similar to the last three-door Opel Astra, the new Astra Sport Hatch will be more rakish and with a lower roofline. The car, which will lead to the birth of the fire-breathing VXR/OPC model, arrives in 2011.

The Sport Hatch will have a more outlandish shape so as to differentiate it from the five-door. Having spent 600 hours in the wind tunnel, the car is said to have better aerodynamics and improved efficiency. The front bumper’s angle has been adjusted to direct air past the wheel and into the side.
