Original Audi Coupe Quattros leave collectors cold
How the mighty have fallen. In 25 years, most expensive cars depreciate, but few cars as significant as the original Audi Coupe Quattro (Ur-Quattro from the German for "original") have so utterly disappeared both in value and visibility from the marketplace.
Although Audi was not the first to offer an all-wheel-drive sport coupe—Jensen briefly offered the FF in the late '60s and early '70s—Audi brought the concept to the mainstream with the Quattro. They promoted it by dominating the world rally scene and successfully integrated all-wheel-drive into their main product line.

The Audi Sport Quattro did 0-60 in under 4.8 seconds. Still one of my favorite cars ever made.

It was fast but Audi's AWD system has improved a lot since then.

"lousy ones change hands publicly for $6,000-$7,000"
That's at least as much as a 633csi now, although the BMW sold for a much higher price initially.
So, who has the better resale?

How do expect junk to last years. Just like all German products that depreciate fast.

These older Audis look more like Nissans or Toyotas from the same period. Tehy dont have that germanesque look of timlessness to them that BMW and Mercedes have so yeah,I would imagine they are not as sought after.

I've always thought that Audi looked like a DeLorean. Why would anyone want to collect an Audi anyway? I'd be much more happier with a garage full of Lexus.

A Sport Quattro will fetch easily close to $100k if you can find one.
Only 214 were made from February 1984 and January 1986.
164 were sold to customers, 19 were kept by the factory for test purposes, 20 were allocated to Motorsport, 5 were used to provide spare parts and the remaining 6 were retained by the factory.
0-62 in 4.9 sec back in 1984!!!
That's impressive!!
Will: you have no taste what so ever....
If it was not for that car, there would not be any STi or Evos.
