When Porsche announced the new, upgraded Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, I am confident that most people applauded Porsche. After all, who else wouldn't want to see a cooler, more powerful 911 that splits the gap between the Carrera S and GT3? Hell, I don't mind.
But then Porsche went and said something along the lines of 'Oh yeah, we're also making a Speedster,' to the sound of crickets. Porschephile rejoiced across the globe but most rational people scratched their head and said 'oh-kay.'
Then you get a look at the Speedster's whopping price tag over $200,000. Meanwhile, the motor is the same as the GTS. Are you really going to pay approximately double the price of the GTS for what is essentially a bodykit and an extra dose of nostalgia?
Regardless, 001 made sure to get around to the 997 GTS and snap some shots of the all-new Porsche. With touches of Alcantara on the interior and a wider stance, we can't say we're hating it.
Expect the GTS to hit showrooms in early 2011 with a starting price just over $100,000 for the coupe. Convertibles will be priced near $113,000.
