Exactly. This is the "Audi way" and the tiny little secret of their Le Mans racing "success". They simply compete where virtually no significant opponent is present. Crossing swords with small racing teams with little cash is a doddle for a huge affluent factory team. It's like staging a fight with some heavyweight boxer against toddlers.

Obviously Audi keep themselves far away from the F1 territory where Mecedes, BMW, Toyota and Honda fight to the bones.

And the thing wrong with Peugeots is...?

PSA is one of the most competitive manufacturers in Europe and no, they do not sell overpriced Volkswagens with a swapped badge. Their HDi diesel engines used common rail and particulate filters (FAP) when Audi/VW didn't even know what these things meant and sticked to their dirty cancer spewing unit injectors rattle clatterboxes.

Brat is always predictable. The old Audi basher..So based on your comments and logic this was Peugeot's first year at Lemans and were no significant opponent prior to this year. PSA, VW, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and some other European and American makers are innovators. F1 in my opinion is a joke. I see more technology getting into cars from Le Man's type races than anything else. In addition, why are other manufacturer's joining the LMP1 if there is no significant opponent present?

F1 is a joke? Obviously you know nothing about motorsports. F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport racing, not Le Mans. FYI, double wishbone suspensions, programmed fuel injections, variable valve timing systems, auto manual transmissions like DSG and DCT are just some of the technologies found on production cars that are derived from F1.

I know nothing about motorsports? Really?? DSG was started from F1? How about aerodynamics? Disk brakes? Carbon brakes? ABS? Like I said, it's my opinion. I don't see many technologies from F1 making it too our cars today. I see F1 as banning this and banning that, everytime I turn around, something is being banned. That's not

i guess red bull and brawn gp were 2 of those non significantly opponents in the f1

Congrats to Peugeot, well deserved!! I hope they decide to keep racing, LMP1 is getting better and better!! I'm sure Audi will have that R15 dialed in much better next time.

I must say that I am a huge Audi fan, but the R15 was very disappointing to watch. It just does not seem like it follows in the line of the R8 and R10...

In any case, job well done for the Peugeot. They really deserved it and at the end of the day, they had a faster, more reliable machine...

Congrats to Peugeot. Audi just didn't have the pace to defeat them. Anyway, the R15 is still slow compared to the 908. How come they're using it next year when the rules require a Closed Cockpit for LMP1 cars in 2010.

With F1 in its current state of turmoil and stand off, we could see some very interesting developments in sports car racing over the next few years. I think it would be great to see the big F1 teams like Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW, and Toyota all switch over to sports car racing in LMP1.

Peugeot was better this year. But lets not forget who started the diesel era in le mans. It's easy to copy and improve.

Competition is always good. I personally prefer rally to F1 any day, but that's just me.
