The new Opel Insignia from the European market is sold in China under the Buick Regal nameplate.

The U.S was also meant to get the Insignia under the Saturn Aura name, but it seems as if General Motors economic problem has forced them to put the U.S Insignia on hold.

American Car companies putting their "home-base" last. What else is new?

...OH! And another thing: LOSE THOSE EFFIN' FENDER VENTS!

I really dont mind them when they are FUNCTIONAL AND ATTRACTIVE but slapping them on after a vehicle is designed reminds me of that aisle in Autozone with the ones in the package. I shake my damn head everytime I see them.

Buick is where portholes came from. They were used to denote engine size. 3 portholes for a V6, 4 for a V8. If anyone should have them it's Buick. The real problem is the "customizer" that slaps them on their '91 escort along with the 22s and chrome trim.

Just great another potential Opel butchered by GM yet again. GM just die, you can do something that almost any other automaker can do ruin the image of foreign vehicles.

Well that is quite obvious. Also I am not eh only one that thinks this way. If this ever comes to the US the fact that its a buick it would have sold a fraction compared to it being the new brand in the US called Opel.

Contrary to veyron1001's stupid ideas, Opel is GM and GM is Opel... ever since 1929 when GM bought 80% of Opel shares.

Good looking car, too bad we may never see it. Most mid and upper management at the big 3 should be drawn and quartered. A bold fresh design is exactly what American consumers have been begging for, especially from domestic manufacturers, and all we get is the same old garbage.

I agree. And the same with Ford Euro although we are seeing more of their cars in the US.

I grew up in the UK and wondered why cars like the Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, and Escort and Sierra Cosworths were never sold here in the US not to mention all the Ford RS models which were awesome.

Yeah I know...regulations and red tape.

I actually like the design of this vehicle. In fact, I am impressed with its exterior and cabin design so much, that if I had to choose between it and a couple of near-luxury offerings from both Europe and Japan, I'd choose the Regal sedan.

China's spoiled with all the better looking GM cars. It's unfortunate. Those cars could have saved a good chunk of GM's financial issues before this recession even happened. The Insignia is gorgeous compared to the cars offered right now by GM.

Same as Ford, WHY DIDN'T THEY BRING THE MONDEO TO NORTH AMERICA? Same case here, why don't GM have the Insignia or a variant on this shore side?. Halt production on some low selling models already. If I was CEO I would bring the Opel over here, re-badge it and with some good marketing GM may get to par again in 5-7 years. It can start a trend in design that will appeal to a broader spectrum.
