I saw the S5 at the New England auto show in both white and metallic black and pearl white. Both looked gorgeous although the white really accentuated the S5's flowing and graceful design. The interiors were excellent, one of the best designs I've seen in awhile.

Best color combo, IMO, is the deep sea blue pearl effect with the Tuscan brown interior. To me, it doesn't get much better than that.

I would choose Quartz Gray Metallic (far right on the first row). It's a classic Audi color.

And the interior would be black leather.

S5, in Sprint Blue with the black interior and carbon fiber trim (you can't get dark brown on the S5--only A5). The S5 is a value with a loaded price of under $57K. I paid $63K for less kit on my S4, and it's less than $500 more than a loaded 335xi coupe.

Saw a gray S5 on the street. Stunning! Best Audi design this side of the R8.

BTW, you guys can't experience Sprint Blue until you see it in person. It's incredible, and I'm so happy I have it on my S4. I have also seen other S4s and RS4s in this color, which has proven that it looks awesome on any Audi.

I agree with you on everything except for two things. A) i would get the light beige interior B) i would get brushed aluminum trim, carbon fiber is just too common now.

And the only ext colour option i would take the S5 in is Silver as then the wing mirrors will match the body colour.

On the A5 i would take Black ext with the brown leather int.

S4 ... Which 335xi coupe did you price out? I priced one out with Manual, Nav, HD, Sat, Ipod, Cold Weather, Premium, Sport ( with 18" option ), Comfort access and came out with $51,945 ... Auto would be $1375 more. This still puts the bmw about $5k to $6k less. Plus the maint and much better fuel economy, not even close.

Anyways, I went to an Audi dealer and checked out the S5. It is nicer in person than on the net. I was pretty impressed with it. Especially in Black. I was suprised to the use of space of the car for the interior. I thought it was a bit lacking to the 3-series. It does have more shoulder room and that is very evident. I drove a maunal transmission version. Pretty nice drive a little on the harsh side, but not bad. The transmission isnt as crisp as the BMW. Tons of power. At speed on the highway, that is one smooth car. Overall a really nice car. Is it on par with a 650i as some suggest, not even close. 335 to S5 is pretty close, just depends on what you are looking for, sport or luxury

Just my take on the S5

My favorite would be Aruba Blue (far left on the second row; available on A5 only).

If any of you guys decide to order an A5 or S5, be careful about the color swatches in the brochure. The Aruba Blue color swatch in the brochure is much darker than the actual color. The thumbnail photo shown above is a pretty accurate representation of the true Aruba Blue. My dealer was told this by Audi HQ.

Also be careful about the Meteor Grey color (extreme left on 1st row; available on both A5 and S5). The thumbnail photo above makes this color look like silver with a blue-green "underhue". However, the brochure indicates that Meteor Grey is a plain old charcoal grey. I had my Audi dealer find out which was the actual color, and Audi HQ told them that the charcoal grey color swatch in the brochure was correct. (I wish the thumbnail above was the true color, however.)

After expecting something very similar to the Nuvolari concept I didn't like the S5 that much at first(not used to the wavy beltline) but the more I look at it the better it looks! I'll take mine in DeepSea blue with Pearl silver interior; and brushed silver trim please!

I think the A/S5 look fine in all the colors that I have seen. All Audis have a certain sameness about there styling, attractive but blah. The A/S5 is too heavy with a meager choice of engines. Where is the powerfull economical version? The A/S5 ends up being a lower priced BMW 650i instead of a competitor to the 3 series coupe.

"Where is the powerfull economical version?"

Over in Europe. It's called the A5 3.0TDI. 0-60 in under six seconds with about 40MPG.

i'd choose black exterior (appears to show off the character lines very well) with that stunning brown/black interior.

S5 all the way. A5 will likely be too soft.

The cost on repairs on any luxury car increase "alarmingly" past 60K miles. That's why manufacturers warrantly typically end at 50K unless you pay a huge premium to continue it out to 100K. Don't blame Audi, blame wear and tear! If you had a 2000 BMW, Lexus, Merc with similar miles it would cost even more to keep on the road.

Audi's don't cost as much as Ferraris. Besides, if you really want to put your money where your mouth is, check out the Audi Exclusive line offered by select dealers. Just remember to bring your really big checkbook with you.

This car is going to sell in small numbers, it does not have the panache of the 650i or the sportiness of the 335i. Too heavy to be sporty, too small for a luxury coupe. Until Audi puts its 3.0 tdi in this car it is just going to do OK. Audi needs to do some serious work on its gasoline engines, it just is not competitive.

it's a bit faster than the 335i depending on the tests, the S5 has a 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds in all tests, the 335i has some slower times, in the end the difference between the two is minimal

The S5's fastest 0-60mph time is to the tune of 4.5 sec, which is on par with the RS4.

Sorry to disagree, but the S5 is getting a lot of looks from BMW 650 shoppers who view the car as an absolute bargan at $59K US. Orders are piling up and the automatic version isn't even available to order yet. Quite frankly, the car isn't even on the road yet. There are only a few hundred in the US at this time. After this car starts to appear in numbers on streets throughout the country, sales will take off like a rocket. I predict that will happen in about a year from now. Now, if Audi will just supply the inventory when that happens.

That Grey/Silver farthest on the right on the first row, with black leather is my choice. But any color exterior is beautiful really.

They need to start bringing these diesels over. I don't understand the hold up.

I also have to add that this car looks way more expensive than a 3-series in & out...Very nice.

The S5 is your tailored suit while the 335i is more of funky jogging outfit you wear to bring out the athlete within.

Really? Because I think they look strikingly similar to those of the Audi A8 (2003), Audi A4 (2005.5), Audi Q7 (2006), Audi A6 Avant (2006), Audi A3 (2006) and Audi R8 (2007).

Just a knack, though.

hey guys, i just went to the audi driving event this past weekend and had the chance to drive the s5 of my choice. white with the brown interior manual and omg, it was damn sexy. on track performance was quick good as well (infineon raceway). considering the elevation changes on that track, the V8 was very nice to have.

if it wasnt for the driving event i would never have considered anything from audi. but man, i am seriously considering the s5 in the next year. hopefully the euro edition i drove is the one we get next year.
