Pirelli launches WORST calendar in history?
Man, in this politically correct world everything fun seems to be going down the toilet but even in the worst of times, the annual Pirelli calender could bring a smile to every REAL man's face.
Until 2008.
I have got to say, as a guy who gets to photograph some of the most beautiful women in the world, this year's work is absolutely hideous.
It was SO bad in my opinion, I almost couldn't make it to the December shots.
There should be a warning label on it.
This year's calendar can hinder your testosterone production! ;)

The women may look a little edgy and frail in a fashion sort of way, but I think that chick in the photo is hot.
In fact, I just got back from the Oakley Inc. corportae headquaters in Foothill Ranch to meet with a client to have paperwork signed and that woman would have fitted right in. In fact they were setting up for tonights Christmas party with 3 bands, a huge clear tent for white furniture, a full size stuffed polar bear and a huge circular area of man made snow. The interior where the bands are playing looks like a giant movie set from a sci-fi movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger with almost eveything made out of silver gray and gold steel.
Anyway you look at it the chick is hot ;)

It's like comparing an Casio to a Patek Phillipe.
The models look stiff and unnatural.
The clothing on some is not fitted right.
There is no dimension to the photographs...very 2D
This is the work of a wannabe, not a world class photog.

And they way the are positioned in the photos is hideous and their faces are drone-like and without emotion and character.
Should I go on?

THIS is what a Pirelli girl should look like:

Just because someone doesnt like the photos does not make them an idiot. It was just his opinion.
I was dissappointed by it as well. Each month looks too much like the one that preceded it and none are particularly breath taking (makes me want to take a second glance).
The style and talent might be there but the creativity isn't.
BTW 001.. that photo of Penelope - I'm speechless. Got it in high res? :)

One Café laté comming up!
What a completely irrelevant and arrogant comment! This might be art and very classy, but it isn't a Pirelli calender! This is the kind of photography you'd expect to see in some metrosexual high trend fashion magazine that nobody ever really reads, it's just trendy...
It makes me feel superior to you that I can honestly say that I want to see some half naked women in my pirelli calender without being ashamed of it... Be it art work or not!

Very artsy. Can you take pictures like this? I don't think so, otherwise you'd be featured in a Pirelli calendar. Just because it isn't a bikini clad model doesn't make it bad.

I'll bet the camera used was a $40,000 dollar 39 Megapixel Hasselblad CF-39.

The world in which we live is one of such 'in your face' sexuality/vulgarity that many have lost the ability to appreciate a more subtle/tasteful definition of beauty/sensuality.
Not all of these photos are stunning, but the good ones are very good indeed:
May
July
September
Are a few of the standouts.
To proclaim ANY of these photos as 'hideous' is tantamount to yelling at the top of one's lungs that you have - ZERO EYE FOR ART APPRECIATION!

Yes, I was emotional describing it and you are right, the photos are ok...but the idea of ok for a Pirelli calendar is hideous!

I have never seen a Pirelli calendar before. I know Sophia Loren appeared in last year's calendar, but that was the only thing I have ever heard about it.
I liked the February and September photos myself, but I suspect that most Pirelli calendars are more overtly erotic than these photos.

Okay... To everybody who think that this is very artistic and that the Pirelli calender doesn't have to include half naked women, go drink your Cafe laté in your little trendy cafe and shove all those politically correct attitudes where the sun doesn't shine (sorry for the language, but honestly)!
The pirelli calender have always been about beautiful women who didn't have too much clothes on... It wasn't vulgar in any way (unless ofcause you drink laté with the pinky poking out)... That was the kind of "art" which fitted in any real man's garage!
If you want "artistic" pictures, I'm sure that fanzy, but overly expensive, gallery next to your favorite laté café can help you out with that... The rest of us want the "old" pirelli calender back! Something we can be proud to show off in our garage... If you hang this in your garage, your friends will just make fun of you (unless they enjoy a laté with you once in a while... But then I guess that women aren't what interests you the most anyways)...
Ahhh... What a nice thing to get off my chest... There we go... Now, feel free to deboost me all you want for being so damned politically incorrect, but I want pictures of fine semi-naked women in my calender!

"could bring a smile to every REAL man's face."
I usually just laugh at the absurdities on this site, but that line is with the author's emphasis added, is completely offensive.
I dont why I expect more.

LOL... That really offended you huh?
Intellectually stimulating?! You really find this intellectually stimulating? There are lots of things that I find intellectually stimulating, but a calender is definitely not one of them!
And yes, I might be a little childish in the statements I made, but they still doesn't change the fact that the Pirelli calender isn't what it should be (which isn't a "boob and ass festival" btw)... It is just mindnumbingly wrong! It looks like an issue of Vogue, not a calender for men... I liked the "old" pirelli calenders... Even the ones without boobs on them, because they fit in a garage. This doesn't!
This might be fine photographic art. I can appreciate that, but that doesn't change the fact that it is no longer a Pirelli calender. It is just an art calender with "Pirelli" printed on it... And that was why I reacted so strongly to those comments. This is not about art, it is about a Pirelli calender which is no longer a Pirelli calender - With or without naked women!

It could've worked, but...
To be "art," there would need to be more color and more emotion in these pictures. When I clicked the link and saw the home picture, I instantly closed it, because it was simply boring.
To be "sex," obviously, the calendar would have to be completely overhauled. Less clothes, but still more color and more emotion. Overall, this leaves much to be desired... and not just in the way of the women.

"Although I really can't expect much from a bunch of people who talk about cars all day to appreciate this calendar for what its really worth."
LOL... Yeah... You're obviously a way better person than any of us because you can appreciate the fine art of this calender!
That is just about the most stupid and arrogant thing I have ever heard! So I might not be into this kind of "art" and suddenly I'm just a tit-loving bafoon who doesn't have brains to talk about anything but cars... Narrowminded, silly, little man! Judging people on how they judge art makes it obvious that you just think of yourself as being more intelligent than the rest of us and that really makes you an unintelligent, uneducated fool. I can appreciate art, I don't think this is art AND I think it has nothing to do with a Pirelli calender... But you really can't expect a guy who drinks cafe laté to understand that...
Now go drink your skimmed milk laté and work on being trendy while you are looking through that ohh so artistic Pirelli calender with your friends so you can all be intelligent and educated and let us fools talk about cars in peace!

I'm disappointed.

The good news is that 2007 isn't over yet. Skip the 2008 calendar. It's like a bad episode of Fashion Television.

Yes, some are kinda stiff, etc. However, don't find it all that bad. Some are excellent, some are not. I do agree they could have done a lot more with the layout. I give it a grade of C minus.
