Playboy Picks Hottest Cars of 2007
What's hot on the road this year? According the Playboy's "2007 Cars of the Year," street-legal speedsters, a hyper-quick hybrid, and a blast from the past that drives circles around the competition. The cars selected by Playboy were carefully chosen by an expert team of automotive writers who traveled the globe to test drive every new model they could get their hands on. They covered thousands of miles of the windiest, steepest, most challenging roads to sort the best from the rest.

A far more interesting list than those provided by Automobile and Car & Drivel.

BMW wins Car of the Year and gets the chicks.
Audi gets another goose egg.
A great list though.

Well guys, you like it or not but there are 3 Japanese winners compared to 2 only from German and American cars. ;-) And put it in other words, 2 Toyota/Lexus product compared to 1 BMW. So in either way you look at it, Japan product wins!!

did we read the same list? I count the following:
American = 4
European = 3
Japanese = 2
So what's the big deal about 2 Toyota products on the list? GM and Ford both have 2 each:
GM: Escalade and Sky
Ford: GT500 and CX-7

Playboy should stick to naked women and not cars. Clearly, they have very little clue about them.

I wonder why the Z4 M would win over a Porsche Cayman/Cayman S.
In all the comparison tests, the Cayman won over the Bimmer because its lighter, faster, and better looking.
In fact, on the show Girls Next Door (which follows the lives of 3 Playboy girls), one of the girls drives a red Caymen. I guess she didn't have input in the decision.

BEST TWO-WAY PLAYER: VW Eos
Folding metal top opens and closes at the touch of a button
Nice.
BTW, saw the LS460 driving down the road today, I thought it was the ES350 (very nice looking rebadged Toyota Camry) at first. From the rear it really looked plain. I guess the lines are sleek but it definately doesn't have the road presense of the Audi A8 or a MB S class. But that is just my opiinion.

bmw335-
The A8 is beautiful. Some people prefer a toned-down appearance. Not necessarily bland, but understated. That applies fairly to the A8 and LS. The old LS was bland, but in person, it's more like an A8 and less like a Camry- though I'd still pick an A8 over it, for the AWD and beautiful interior.
The BMW and the Mercedes-Benz, although I love the S-Class (the 750 is incompetent- doesn't beat the A8 in any area at all), are simply trendy. They aren't truly beautiful; they're just fashionable. Watch the 7 and S go out of fashion, while the A8, like a good wine (I've said this before), stays sleek and elegant for many years to come.

You must not have sense of style if you think that the LS460 looks like the Camry!!!The S-class looks more japanese than the LS460,the A8 looks too much like a Phaeton,and the 7-series looks dated!!!

1. I didn't say the LS460 looked like a Camry! I said, in person, I LIKED IT. Wow!
2. The A8 doesn't look like a Phaeton. The A8 is far superior to the Phaeton- it's 600lbs lighter.
3. The 7 Series doesn't look dated yet. It's not really class-competitive any more, but it's by no means dated.

I believe LexusHater has been booted from the website. I've been noticing comments, and replies- but usually, one of the replies says something to "LexusHater", when none of his comments are there.
Is a celebration in order?

The Escalade can off-road. I don't love it, but it surely can.
It's a status symbol in America, if you haven't realized. It's the 300C of SUVs, or, more aptly, the 300C is the Escalade of sedans (Caddy was out first).
On the $80K+ end of the spectrum, the Range Rover is the S-Class of SUVs.
