Please Buy Our Tundra! Toyota Throws New Incentives On Pickup
Toyota Motor Corp., coming off its most successful sales month in the U.S., said Friday that it is offering another round of incentives on its full-size Tundra pickup trucks.

The incentives offered through July 31 include a choice of zero-percent financing for five years, rebates of up to $3,500, or reductions of $500 on down payments on three-year leases. The monthly payment on the leases remains $259, but the down payment drops to $2,499 from $2,999.

Japan's Toyota passed Ford Motor Co. for the No. 2 sales spot in the U.S. in May, when its sales increased 9.7 percent over year-earlier levels. General Motors Corp. remains No. 1.

As far an overall handsome work pickup, I would go with a GMC Sierra. Its not too in-your-face, but it doesnt look whimpy either. If I wanted an in-your-face work pickup, I would go for the new Ford Super-duty. Looks like a semi!!! I personally think the Tundra's team tried to hard to look bold or tough. THIS IS AN OPINION!!!

I see the new tundra's on the road a lot more than the previous ones. Its not a bad looking truck by any means. Has a real presence on the road. These incentives seem to just be pushing the truck in a market that Toyota is smart to know is dominated by trucks like the Ford F150. Their facing an uphill battle and trying to even the playing field with these incentives. I say good call Toyota. Build a loyalty with these customers and you'll have them for a very long time.

Not a "bad" truck but still not there yet. Lets hope they get it right in the next 7 years with the redesign.

It's a horrid vehicle to look at, no wonder they're throwing incentives already!

Toyota definitely missed their goal with this one!

GM sells the most in the U.S.

Toyota sells the most in the World.

Its a base model, i.e a company truck. The cheaper these trucks are the more they will sell. Which is why Toyota is having to put such high incentives on the base models. You can get the same truck in a Silverado or F150 for a lot cheaper.

Well, 009, thats exactly what people have been doing. Toyota is not waiting for sales to slip before being aggressive. But, they are selling plenty already. They hahe, however, figured out that their original pricing strategy was wrong.

and the truck is haaawwwwwtttt!!! i dont care what any haters say.

Djaoki you are right this is not a mans truck! There are no 1/2 ton man's 4x4 truck! Although an impressive engine.

I cant figure out why the rear doors are longer than the front ones . Looks like a throw back to the old Mercedes 4 door SL series from the late eightys . Looking at Consumer Reports ( our favorite toaster testers ), they do not even recomened this truck anymore ,as a matter of fact , they don't even recommened any full size truck(s) anymore,

After failing to achieve a 5 star crash rating like the rest of the pack and being new is no surprise that this truck has had some quality issues. I would consider this if they redesighned the truck for off road use! More wheel travel, larger tires, shorter wheelbase, better on gas, higher stance...

I used to agree with you until I heard about chevy's air bag premature deployment when you take them off road or bump a curb the air bags deploy and if you try to get warrante to cover the thousands to replace them chevy says they would rather error on the side of caution? What crap! For me the ford is the only other logical choise.

I don't care WHAT it looks like or how much money they put on the hood. Buying Toyota is un-American. Period.

Have they fixed the engines yet? Have you followed one of these trucks over train tracks or rough road. Bed moves around like a 70's pick box.. sad. The interior is only a bit better than a Dodge in design. GM dash is much better looking. Fords dash is much better looking (well F150 not sure about super duty)

Lexus ALWAYS understates their 0 - 60 times by at least .5 seconds. Here are the results of the 5 Top Luxury Cars in this test which was reported in the January Issue of Car and Driver. Please note these tests were all done on the same day at about the same time and at the same altitude. The results reflect the average of 3 runs and all cars are the 2007 vintage.

Mercedes S550 5.6, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.1 (Benz show 5.4 in their specs)
BMW 750iL 5.7, 0 - 60 quarter mile in 14.2
Jag XJ Super 6.0 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.5
Lexus LS460L 6.2 0 - 60 quarter mile 14.6
Audi A8 6.8 0 - 60 quarter mile 15.2

Note that Lexus, as usual, is more than the 5.4 the manufacturer CLAIMS to get by .8 seconds.

Also note the LS430 (prior model the LS460 replaced) was rated at 295 HP and was actually 278 when Lexus corrected their rating. And there were no refunds or apologies from the so-called "quality" car company. ABC - Always Be Careful what you buy from the (REPREHENSIBLE) Toyota/Lexus people.....
