Who the hell is going to pay $190+K for a 6 cylinder car? Porsche is still not learning from their mistakes like Honda/Acura, because it needs a V8 just as bad as Acura needs a V8 for their cars. There's just no replacement for displacement and cylinder head counts.
Even BMW finally made the switch to 4.0L V8 with their new M3 because there is just no freaking way for a 6 cylinder vehicle to keep up with the new breed of V8 sports car.
Can this 6 cylinder contest against the V8s of say...
RS4 (4.2L V8)
AMG C63 (6.3L V8)
M3 CLS (4.0L V8)
IS-F (5.0L V8)
CTS V-Series (6.1L V8)
F430 Scuderia (4.3L V8)
I really doubt it. This is going to be Porsche's biggest mistake, even Ferrari knows better to use V8 to stay ahead, but a box 6 is just all wrong.

Eh, it develops 520bhp and goes from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, it will smoke any of the cars you have just listed on the Nürburgring.
I don't get your logic, getting that kind of performance out of a 3.6 litre flat six is far more impressive than trying to shoe-horn a V8 into a it, putting a V8 in it would ruin the car.

Because Porsche's box 6 is old and busted and that everyone else is moving to newier V8 engines? Porsche is still stuck in the old days with obsolete technologies and I just don't want them to fall behind the others.
Porsche needs a V8 to stay competitive with the new breed of cars in the modern era. This is the 21st Century, not 20 years ago.

V8 is way old too. People have been driving V12 for a long time. Does that make V8 obsolete technology too?
