Porsche 911 GT3-RS to get extra power and 7-speed dual-clutch
Porsche is getting to reveal a facelifted version of its 911 later this year. AutoCar spies recently caught the next-generation version of the most extreme 911, the GT3 RS, testing at the Nurburgring.

The updated and facelifted 911 will be unveiled later this summer, while the next-generation GT3 RS will go on sale next year. Subtle styling changes have been made to the front and rear bumper. The 3.6 liter 6-cylinder engine is expected to produce an extra 40-hp than the current GT3 RS, bringing the total to more than...

450hp from a naturally aspirated 3.6L 6-cylinder. That's quite an accomplishment. Bravo Porsche.

Yay Porsche! Give us more color choices though, like Guards Red and Cobalt Blue for the RS.

I do not trust all of the information that site provides. For being a regularly featured source on this site, I find it hard that they were pleading for Chris Harris in their coverage of the AutoCar video featuring the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage by test editor Jamie Corstorphine. Chris Harris is no longer at AutoCar and has teamed up with former EVO magazine co-founder Richard Meaden and deputy editor Jethro Bovingdon for a new online magazine, which I won't disclose I wouldn't want a bunch of nuckleheads ruining.

So, I believe 450 is achievable but a bit ambitious even with direct injection. If it happens that is wonderful... if it doesn't the car will still be even quicker than the current iterations.

I don't see the Honda S2000 engine producing anywhere near the torque per litre.
The GT3 engine is designed to get the full beating 24 hours non stop and it's the exact same engine they use for the road cars.

I change my mind. Chances are Porsche needs to hit this target because the Carrera S facelift will have 380 horsepower, which in the future if you add the X51 powerkit (if it is offered) that brings the horsepower close to current GT3 levels. So I am guessing Porsche wants a wide disparity in horsepower.

After reading the AutoCar article it states the GT3 variants might not use the direct injection systems like the standard 911s. Sounds like either the dry-sump GT1 engine or the wet-sump direct injection M97 powerplant for the new variant.

If Porsche uses the GT1 engine that is power equal to the track-only 996 GT3 RSR but now in road trim.
