Porsche Design Presents Its First Mobile Phone
Porsche Design has teamed up with French based Sagem Communication, to create their first mobile phone, the P’9521. Uninspiring name apart, the P’9521 has certainly won our aesthetic approval with its minimalist design and “cool” materials such as the aluminium casing and mineral glass display.

Spec-wise, the P'9521 comes equipped with a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera with flash and zoom plus video recording capabilities. A double hinge made from aluminum enables the screen to be rotated through 180° – thus allowing the phone to be used as a digital camera. However, the P’9521’s most impressive feature is undoutthe fingerprint reader, which identifies the user and thus ensures secure access to personal data. In addition, the standard PIN code can also be replaced by a fingerprint. The P’9521 will be available from fall 2007 in Porsche Design Stores and specialist mobile phone retailers worldwide. The mobile phone will not be sold in the US, Japan or Korea. –Specs and photos after the jump

The Porsche Design Mobile Phone P’9521 offers the following functions:

* Photo/Video: The P’9521 features an auto focus video and still camera boasting 3.2 megapixel resolution, integrated flash and digital zoom. The rotating screen makes it even easier to use, whilst its AM OLED technology ensures very high quality colors, exceptional brilliance and a perfect view from every angle.

* Music: The P’9521 boasts an MP3 player and three speakers for ringtones and voice playback in stereo quality sound.

* Internet: Thanks to EDGE technology (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), the P’9521 offers very highspeed internet access.

Zero points for creativity for this RAZR clone.

Speaking of phones, the Apple iPhone is set to release in a few weeks. Ridiculously expensive @ $499 for even the "lower-end" version, but looks like I'll have to get one just 'cause.

Iphone is such a stupid phone. I got a Nokia N95, it can do everything the Iphone does plus much more. Like 5Mpx camera, GPS, 3G etc ..

Sorry S4 but the iphone can't even come near the n95... If you want a REAL phone(+everything else) get the n95.. The iphone is overpriced rubbish.. My current cellphone (Sony Ericsson K750i) has the same amount of mp camera as the iphone and has been out for well over a year.. And at least I can swap batteries..

Anyways this phone looks pretty cool but I couldn't see myself with one.. I would take a n95 over it since it will probably be priced around the same..

It's not from Porsche. It's from Porsche Design, a subsidairy from Porsche Design Group. Founded in 2003. The Porsche Design Studio was founded in '72.

I recently wondered about this out too. (about the differences of Porsche and Porsche Design) In the latest edition of GQ magazine, there is this absolutely BEAUTIFUL yacht and the article read: Porsche Design. Didnt know the difference until now...

This Porsche phone has no character and does not seem to reiterate a slick road machine that Porsches are reknown for. It's simply a brick...this a phone better suited to the Hummer crowd.

This ISN'T made by Porsche the car company! It's made by PORSCHE DESIGN. They're two different branches.

Since their 2 totally different companies...Porsche AG should sue the phone maker for making such crap and putting the shared name on it.

Gotta have one of those! I currently have a Samsung/B&O SGH-E910, beautiful phone and works like dream once you get to know it.

I was thinking to buy the iPhone when it comes out in Germany but this Porsche phone screams design!

I may have to get the Porsche phone. It would be all the better if I got a 911.

Wow..... It's a flip phone...... oooooooooooohhhhhhh aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh........ Maybe if were lucky the next thing they will redesign is the brick phone or maybe my favorite the James Bond bag phone. Maybe they could have it in a nice Porsche designed bag that came with its own gloves so you could feel cool carrying it!!

P.S. The N95 wouldn't hold a candle to the iphone!!

Hope it works better than the Porsche Design LaCie external hard drive. That drive is a POS. This thing also looks like it's been carved out of a brick. I hate to say this, especially considering how much I love Porsche cars. It looks too much like a piece of scrap aluminum.

I'll just stick with my Nokia E70 thank you!
It has everything I need, 2mp camera, qwerty keyboard, 16m coloured screen, wifi etc. The problem is, the joystick gets very anoying sometimes and if you fill it up to 500mb it starts lagging and all that cr*p!
