When Porsche confirmed that it will indeed build a compact SUV by the name of Cajun, it as a pretty logical move on the Stuttgart automaker’s part due to the massive success of the Porsche Cayenne SUV.

Building on the success of the Porsche Panamera sedan, it is now reported that Porsche is working on a smaller sedan that will compete with the likes of the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The project is currently codenamed Pajun, for Panamera Junior (no that doesn’t mean Cajun stands for Cayenne Junior – Cajun and Cayenne are both spices). The Porsche Pajun sedan is expected to carry over the engine lineup from the Panamera so you can expect a gasoline, diesel and hybrid version.

When will we see the Porsche Pajun on the roads? Well, nothing is official as of yet, but the folks at AutoBild say sometime around 2016 with a starting price tag of €60,000 ($84,630 USD).
