Porsche Panamera Details Emerge: Pricing and a 300HP Hybrid
STUTTGART, Germany — The 2010 Porsche Panamera will be offered with a choice of three engines and will be priced from about $127,000 for the base V6 model to $198,000 for the full-house turbo V8 all-wheel-drive edition.

The latest details on the four-door Porsche, as outlined in the German magazine Autobild, include the news that a new full-hybrid option for the Panamera will mate a 300-horsepower V6 gasoline engine with a 100-hp electric motor, enabling the driver to select from any combination of the two propulsion sources.

GOD DAMN!!!!

&127,000 BASE ? For a V6 !!! Let's not forget Porsche's mile long option sheet.

This car is going to be pretty damn exclusive with a price tag like that.

Give me the Turbo, just let me sell my house first.

that's insane. Thanks, but I'll take a CS Concept/8-Series/whatever they're going to call it.

I am a full fledged Porschephile, but this is downright insane. Not only does it look like this car will be hideous its gonna be freakin expensive too. This means it will cost more than an S Class, 7 Series, M5, Eg3, Aston Martin Rapide and many other high end sports cars. Heck this costs more than the 911 Turbo and the Cayenne Turbo its based on.
Something has to be wrong with these numbers. Is this in Schillings or Pesos or something?

It's called Porsche trying to make a $20,000 profit like they do with the rest of their models. Except this might be a $40,000 profit lol

I doubt it will cost more than the Rapide.

I was going to point out the same thing, pushrod. Most of the stuff I have read says that the Rapide will cost around $250,000, however, I did find one that said $400,000 (not likely) and one that stated $190,000.

Can this really be true? I don't see anybody paying $127k for a V6 sport sedan. You can get the V10 M5 or V8 E63 for 85/90k.

wow this is outrageous, and isnt that a VW V6, $127,000 I can make a long list of cars that I would rather have that dont have a V6 for that much, wow thats more than a Quattroporte, or a CLS63AMG...what a ripoff, a 80,000 911 without power seats and having to pay almost 4,000 extra for power and full leather seats is rediculous but 127,000 for a passat V6 with 300hp in a car that size and with as much weight as it will carry is rediculous.........only someone that is obsessed with Porsche would even waste the money

Now wait, wait, maybe I am wrong but...

Why would Autobild, a German magazine, report U.S. pricing? They probably didn't, meaning someone simply did a currency conversion, which does not represent the way things are actually priced.

Maybe that isn't right, but that strikes me as what may be going on here.

U.S. pricing is only about 5k more over the UK price in pounds. This has definitely got to be a conversion price.

$127,000 for the base V6 model and $198,000 for the TT V8?

That's ballsy.

Say what you want about Porsche, but the one thing their management isn't is stupid. There's no way in the world that those prices can be correct. My guess is someone took the EU prices and did a simple conversion - that isn't the way Porsche prices its cars.

So i guess that means the turbo/awd will be 250,000 with options!!! I wonder if it will be five times the car the Boxster/Cayman is? Or half the car the Carrera GT was???

There has to be some kind of conversion problem here. You can't say that because their euro is $1.50 to our $1.00 then you convert directly. Car pricing does not work that way. And they would not kill themselves by pricing it that high above a Quattroporte. I have no doubt the turbo version will be more than an M5, heck the V6 will probably start in the 60's.

I'm sorry that rear end is really bugging me. You can't make a 4-door "coupe" and keep the "tradition" of a Porsche it just doesn't look right. Porsche do the front end all you want like the rest but the rear must be done right. Otherwise the Rapide wins this battle!

Aside from not so pretty design and endless list of costly Porsche options, base price of $127K?!?!?!?

Who are they kidding?

If these prices are in euro then that would translate to just over $80k for the v6 and about $125k for the v8 in US dollars, which seems much better.

Who the hell is going to buy these overpriced sedans, people who can afford 911's and DB9's already have luxury 4 seaters in their garage.. they don't need stretched versions of those same cars. $130k for a V6? next!

As has been stated by me and a few others in these posts, that cannot be the price, it was not converted right or was going by euro or something. But people do not feel the need to read other's posts prior to posting themselves.

I live in the northeast so there's no question that, if I were to get this car, it would be the $198,00 model....THAT KILLS ME! It such a gorgeous car, but if I'm going to spend 200 grand on a sedan, I'll be at the Bentley dealer.

I agree with you 100%, I would rather see a modern 928. But what if they created a modern 944 that we ALL could afford, now that would be fun.

The base model would not be available initially. If you want to be the first to own one of these be prepared to spend at least 198k for the V8. My budget is just a tad over the base model V6. Therefore, I'd settle for the Maserati Quattroporte S. I'd probably lease a new one or purchase a slightly used (2007 - 2008) previous model and save about 20 - 30k USD.

I suspect the Panamera is going to do well in sales. We'll see.

technologically, a 3.6 V6 with hybrid produces ONLY 300 HP is hardly impressive, especially at that price. VQ 35 produces close to that power without the aid of hybrid, and toyota/lexus products went way beyond that number for years and cost you at a fraction of the price.

wrong prices listed, not the first time Edmunds just converted the Euro to dollar without thinking. 80,000 and 125,000 makes more sense. Of course the price for the Porsche badge is stil high

Porsche is still the most profitable (per vehicle) mass producer of cars.
"Also available, should customers demand it, is the high-output V10 from the Carrera GT, as well as Audi's potent V12 TDI."
So, it takes VW/Audi or Porsche engines, just like the Cayenne/Touareg.
Does that mean its another VW built to Porsche's spec?
(ALA Cayenne, which has Porsche seats, paint, and sometimes engine ... otherwise its a Touareg with different fenders/grille/rear-side glass)

Got to any auto manufacturers Euro site and you can generally see they are quite a bit more expensive compared to US versions.

My friends in Europe also confirm paying much higher for cars due to local taxes and regulations.

As most people have already noted, this is a bad conversion rate. I can't imagine Porche charging more for a "4-door" than for their crown jewel 911

bmwdrvr,
Difference is Porsches doesn't have to share the name with some ecnonomy car like the M5/128i.

Porsches are still exclusive.

Anyway, people will buy it if they can afford it, just like someone will buy a 128i when they can get the same, perhaps even better, from a Civic.
