Porsche Turbo convertible spy shots
Following this month’s reveal of the new facelifted 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S models comes latest spy shots of the updated Turbo Cabrio model due at the end of the year.
It will be hard to spot the difference between the new and the old as the spy images reveal because most of the planned changes will be taking place under the sheet-metal.
The facelifted 911 Turbo range is expected to get an extra 20hp (15kW) to give it an edge over the new Nissan GT-R and return its supremacy at the Nurburgring.

They do, but do you really think they are going to change the 911 that drastically? They always tweak the design that has really been around since the 356.

I don't think an extra 20 hp is going to give the 911 Turbo an edge over the GT-R on the Nurburgring. It's like giving the ZR-1 an extra 1000 hp and still it won't handle any better than the GT-R.

Since when did the GT-R become the standard that all car subtypes go by? I don't get it.

S30GTR fanboy - lol - the "ultimate machine". 4000 lb hogzilla that is starting to show its true numbers as the U.S. rags get their hands on it. Crushed by the turbo in the R&T article and most recent C&D has it at 0-60 in 4.1 and 1/4 mile 12.6@111. The "real world" GTR's are starting to hit our shores and the numbers seem much more real considering the "ultimate machine" lard ass weight

S30gtr-What's funny then, is that I'd gladly choose this over a GT-R any day of the week.

To point in fact the nissan does not have greater handling, it just has a bigger computer to give it the edge it needs, most comparisons needed all the gizmos turned on to get great numbers. AH numbers... sometimes they are the measurement but when it comes to handling theres more to it... I prefer handling in a car to be a little more innate and less controlled by the CPU

Ultimate for who? The game boy crowd?
I think the GTR is great but so are a lot of other sports cars. For me I need a convert. So I'll take the turbo or If the F430 spyders come down in price a little more.

The only way to know which car you like the best, Do one of the supercar tours for $1400. You can drive them all back to back. Its the only way to figure out what you like best. Everybody liked dif things of diff vehicles. I thought the Gallardo was the ultimate until I drove the 430 right after. The 430 for me was like nothing else in the world. It really feels like you are one with it and the sounds....It inspires such confidence in the handling. You feel everything. The turbo was superfast but too refined for me. But one other guy thought it was the best. I'm sure to drive the GTR will be similar to the turbo. Too refined. A tool to get there the quickest. But I want to feel and hear more. But if your goig to drive for everyday car the turbo or GTR or R8.

OK, am i missing something here. When does adding a measly 20 hp to 480 hp do anything to performance? How is that going to make any significant improvement in track time? Unless the entire power band has been shifted down.

Do you really think the only thing they are gonna change is the power?

Of course not. But when you are talking about making a significant reduction in lap times, power and how is is delivered is huge. Gearing, tire set up. etc. also but power/torque is the biggest.

The thing that kills me about the 20HP increase is that any 997 turbo owner can get an EASY 40 to 60Hp gain just by a computer reflash and exhaust change
