What? This has to be one of the most nonsensical moves for Porsche since deciding to produce an SUV... and then a sedan.

And this is intended for...what? They mid-lifer who wants a GTI but doesn't want to look like a kid? Is it going to be FWD?? A FWD Porche? WTF?

This, I do not understand.

It's like if Mercedes decided to build a Minivan to compete with the Dodge Caravan....oh wait, they're moving the R-class downmarket, right? ;)

A brilliant move to further pollute the Porsche brand. First the ugly Cayenne, next the truly awful Panamera, and now the this. It's obivious the Porsche is working as hard as it can to make as much money as it can while at the same time destroying their brand identity.

I couldn't agree more. Its like we're witnessing the self destruction of an icon before our very eyes. I truely don't understand any of this nonsense. They already own brands that do this sort of thing very well. Why attach the Porsche name to them. It does nothing to enhance the brand image surely.

Well have you driven wheelbarrows these days? They simply do not handle very well at high speeds or around corners. Weight distribution's off.

Strange.
I think the reasoning behind this move is strictly tied to the financial takeover of VW. Porsche has to drastically increase volume to be able to successfully purchase the much larger company.
We're witnessing the dilution of an automotive icon.

If you want a Porsche, buy one used or, better yet, EARN MORE MONEY!

THERE, I SAID IT!

The Porsche Cayman S already has an engine that has 295hp. I don't think you can get any smaller than the Cayman S in that engine configuration without ruining the beautiful lines and nature of the Porsche brand.

One concept drawing and you guys get all bent out of shape about Porsche losing its focus.

Take a deep breath, guys, get a grip.

In case you hadn't noticed, Porsche used to make two quite nice lines of front-engine GT cars. While I personally believe the Cayman is the most fun Porsche in dealers at the moment, many people would love to see successors to the brilliant 928 and 968 models that were discontinued a decade ago. They would probably sell well.

So what do you want -- only 911-derived models from now on, or are you going to let Porsche offer other excellent cars?

WTF? Porsche OWNS VW and Audi! Why the hell would they want to compete with the S3 and GTI?! And why would they want a car of that caliber in the first place? Hasn't the Cayenne given them enough profits?
