Porsche spending more than planned to produce Panamera
It seems Porsche needs to spend a little more money than it planned on the Panamera. The company will be spending a quarter more than it had originally planned in order expand its Leipzig plant where it will begin producing the four-dour Porsche Panamera coupe next year.

While there is no official word on the specs of the Panamera the four-door coupe is expected to have a V6 engine producing up to 300 horsepower and a V8 engine producing up to 350 horsepower. Another V8 twin-turbo engine is also expected producing up to 560 horsepower for the ‘S’ model.

The car will be unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show with 20,000 units scheduled per year.

1. Take over VW.
2. Go from world's LAST and only surviving speciality marque to purveyor of mass market bread boxes.
3. Spread engineering talent from one highly focussed ethos to 6 brands and dilute the hell out of it.
4. Focus on earning 70 percent revenue from bloated SUV's and 4 doors, than on making its signature sportscars more affordable to a broader driver base.
5. Transform "there is no substitute" tagline to "many substitutes for less/more whatever"

If this is Porsche's path to the future, it'll go the way of the dog that swallowed the whale bone and then choked on it.

I thought Lambo was owned by Audi.

Perfectly said Lyall. Lets hope your post reaches Porsche before it's too late.

I doubt that would happen. Porsche and VW have been linked forever- they were CREATED by the same person! The original 356 was based on the Beetle!

Ironically, Porsche is now the richer company, although VW still maintains a higher seat of power in terms of assets/size. I hope Lambo and Bugatti aren't dropped, for VW/Audi's sake, and for their own. Lamborghini would once again fall into the cruel hand of bankruptcy, and who would sustain Bugatti's massive running costs?

so is vw still getting a low end panamera derivative to spread the costs of platform development?
