If you were thinking that Porsche is nothing more than the 911 company, well then you have to know that sources inside Porsche have confirmed that Porsche is set to launch 10 new models by the end of 2010. Some of them are varianrs of the existing 997-series 911, but the others "will take the company into new and possibly controversial market niches."

Porsche’s new models:

911 Turbo Cabriolet: the coupe 911 Turbo is powered by a 3.6 liter flat-six engine with an output of 473 hp and 457 lbs-ft of torque. The convertible version will probably take a few tenths longer to get to 60, but should exceed the 996 Turbo Cabrio’s 191-mph top speed, so it can compete with models like Bentley Continental GTC.

911 Targa: the 997 Targa will have a large glass panel that retains the car’s roof rails between the pillars for better structural rigidity .

911 GT3 RS: it will be a limited-edition of the 2007 GT3 RSR. It will be powered by a 3.8 liter flat-six engine.

911 GT2: the GT2 will have an output of 525 hp, and with no sunroof and other weight savings it will probably have the best 0-60-0 mph time ever.

Panamera: it is powered by a 4.5 liter V8 engine with an output of 340 hp. It will debut in 2009 as a 2010 model.

Cayman RS: will no offer more power because Porsche wants to ensure the 911 remains the company’s icon car.

Next-generation 911: The 998 version of the 911 will be powered by a flat-six engine, with a capacity of no more than 4.0 liters. The car will feature extensive use of aluminum and fast-shifting DSG transmissions to save weight and boost performance.

Small SUV: it will be placed below the Cayenne; will be a radical, sporty three-door vehicle with strong 911 design cues.

New 928: Porsche has plans to build a short-wheelbase, two-door model to compete with cars like Bentley Continental GT and Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.

New Carrera GT: the production of the Carrera GT might have finished but Porsche is planing a new successor for the mid-engine V-10-powered roadster but is unlikely to bedut before the ned of 2010.
