Porsche wins the Nurburgring 24 hour race for the fourth time

For the fourth successive times Porsche clinched the title at the Nurburgring 24 hour endurance race.

With the 480hp Porsche GT3 RSR of the Manthey Racing team’s Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas, Marc Lieb and Marcel Tiemann, crpssed the finish line ahead of the Audi R8 which placed second in the race.

Occupying third place is the other Manthey Porsche, the 445hp 911 GT3 Cup S, which was piloted by Richard Lietz, Wolf Henzler, Emmnauel Collard and Dirk Werner. There were seven Porsches that crossed the finish line to make it to the ten top contenders. The fastest 24 hour Nurburgring, which clocked up a total of 3,933 kilometers, was witnessed by about 235,000 onlookers, with the Manthey Racing team improving its 206 record by 101 kilometers.

LF-A was very fast. Its lap times were as good as the lap times of the winner. Even though those two cars are in a different class. And the LFA was about 20 seconds faster every lap than the Aston V12 Vantage. But both LF-A's spent about 6 hours in the garage with mechanical problems.

the LF-A qualified 20 seconds slower than the winner. So I doubt it ever lapped as quick as any of the leaders.

It was faster than the Astons as those were much more stock than the Lexus.

BTW, wrong Porsche in the photo.

that means Lexus is unreliable. you could make a car that laps the ring in 8min flat, but if it spends half the race in the garage, that means it will not win. Faster does not mean better!!!

Yeah... F1 technologies have never been and probably almost never will be made for the road and 24H endurance race on the Nurburgring.

At least Audi didn't work, taking away their rights to act all cocky and everything.

The LFA actually managed to lap the track faster than the top seaters, but mechanical problems took over );

Congrats to Porsche and the ultimate track machine, the GT3... Porsche and Audi occupied the top 9 spots, with BMW coming in 10th.

I say those are great results for the GT3 as well as for the R8s.

This is a celebration for Porsche, not a bashing or praising for the LF-A, so lets keep this posting limited to comments for Porsche!!!

And to all those who thinks the LF-A lapped faster than this or that, the fastest they managed was a 8:50 for the one that didnt finish and a 9:01 for the one that finished 87th! The winner lapped consistently in the 8:40s...

Congrats to Porsche! And cudos to Audi! Being second after Porsche isn´t bad at all.

Looking for assembly?
Looking for aftermarket (bodykits)?

Ugly and still no proof that it can play with the big boys. Yet not even in production.

Ok, good effort on Lexus part but the design is so bland. Most European exotic supsercars have style and grab your attention. The LF-A doesn't. I am going to give it one more chance though when I see it on the street.

If I see it on the street (if it ever makes production).

We will give credit where credit is due, once this car is on the streets (IF it will ever happen ...), and has proven that it is a serious contender for the high performance segment, but until then I think we are allowed to make a little fun about it ... :-)
