A really good client of mine went to a Nissan dealer to inquire about the car. They said they are only get 3 versions of the car and are asking $20k to $25k over MSRP ....

I drove by a local Nissan dealer and they have a special drive thru window to place your order for the GTR, and yes they ask you if you would like fries with it.

Hmmmm...so Nissan will not put a cap on Markups? I heard they do not endorse dealership markups!?! I can wait because you don't get that money back when selling the car.

Will be interesting to see the first US accident pics..lol. Also see more real world numbers.

Edmunds States, "Nissan GT-R is now available for pre-ordering at 691 of approximately 1,400 of its dealerships in the U.S. At the same time, the automaker told Inside Line it has put a formal program in place to help prevent price gouging on the supercar, which starts at $69,850 for the base model."

Not to seem rude or something but why is this article just now seeming like news when the GT-R was avaliable for preorder January 1st?

Pre-orders mean very little. Nissan dealers are being very short sighted. In a year or two you will be able to get a discount. These mark-ups turn people off. In the long run it will cost Nissan and Nissan dealers sales. No mark-up for any production car has ever lasted or helped sales, ever! Nissan dealers already do not have the best reputation is this does not help.

It really depends upon Nissan plans for production. As been said if they keep production artificially low the mark ups will continue. If they flood the market in a couple of yrs the cars will sell at sticker or below. Is it worth 25 to 40 grand over sticker just to be the 1st one on the block? I don't think so.
