Preview: 2008 Audi RS6 Avant
Development work for Audi’s “wolf in sheep’s clothing” RS6 line is nearing completion, but until it arrives this new rendering gives an accurate look as to how the new Avant version will be styled. Though late to the table, the new RS6 is expected to blow away the competition with a rumored twin-turbo V10 engine churning out 571hp (426kW). Back in June, leaked chassis codes for the car revealed the specific output as well the displacement of the engine, which remains at 5002cc.

That's fairly accurate, except for a few things:
It will most likely have LED strips on the bottom of the headlights, which were covered in the latest spy shots.
The side-vent "gills" won't be integrated right into the front intakes. They'll be more similar to the RS4's.
It will probably have the 19" wheels from the RS4, or maybe even 20" versions, which are available on the A8 and Q7.

The RS6 will have its own design wheels.

RS6 is lame. Stick with E63 AMG Wagon and M5 Touring.

when the RS6 sedan and avant win all comparison tests the BMW M5 sedan and avant and E63 AMG sedan and avant should be named techno-overkill just like the M3.
Sad how the E60 M5 and E46 M3 are better overall cars than their current versions.

How true is that. Newer is not always better. Perfect example.

I agree however I would be as bold as to suggest the modern E46 and E60's are pigs in their own right. In comparison to the phenomenal E30

GermanNut, the E60 is the current M5. I think you mean the E39?

571 horsepower coupled with AWD for excellent traction during takeoffs and amazinBimmer thinks the M5 with its measily 500 and RWD that can't put the power down nearly as well as the RS6 stands a chance......Hahahahahah.

BenzW124 thinks the E63 AMG with its herculean brute force and numb handling will stand a chance against this RS6 with 571 horsepower (likely underrated)????
Not a chance. Let alone the fact that all Mercedes AMGs handle like crap except for the upcoming C63...we all know the RS6 will manhandle the competition.
The M5 already lost to the RS4 for god's sake. The RS4 with its 80 horsepower disadvantage took down the M5. Imagine what a 70 horsepower advantage will do for the Audi.....you got it right, push it to victory ahead of the M5 and E63.

Heck the Audi S6 with only 435 horsepower even had the most consistent finishes in the noted three comparison tests where it was the only car to never finish in third place.
Can't say that about the M5.

How much torque does this thing have?!
737lb/ft!!!
In an estate!!!
Apparently Audi took a page out of MB's book by producing a vehicle with high HP but astronomical TQ.

Audi should consider integrating a side vent into the cars design to help it stand out from lesser A6's, but only if it's actually used to help the engine breathe.

keep dreaming amazinBimmer. 571 horsepower and 737 lb/ft of torque with Quattro AWD as standard to have excellent power delivery to the wheels during takeoff and you can even think for a second that the RS6 will lose to the M5 in straight-line and handling.
Wake up and smell the coffee amazinBimmer.....the RS6 will easily out price your cheap, techno-overkill, low horsepower (500), low torque techno-nanny M5 that lost to an RS4 with only 420 horsepower will outperform a better balanced Audi RS6 with 71 more horsepower and god knows how much more torque.
Wake up BenzW124 and AmazinBimmer, Audi RS is about to rip your M and AMG divisions in horsepower just as it did with the RS4 and the RS6 will take the game to an all new level.
If the S6 can win and come in first place against the E63 and M5 with just 435 horsepower......you know exactly what the 571 horsepower RS6 will do.

Most idiotic comment on autospies, congratulations!
If you think 507hp is low, then your on crack! Wake up! If you think the M5 is cheap then your a total idiot! Hello! the RS4 is way lighter than the M5!

M53R, GermanNut just gets a little passionate when fanboys piss him off. I do the same thing. 507hp is definitely not low, and the M5 is a hot sedan. But amazinBimmer sometimes gets under his skin.

And, may I ask, why don't you ever defend Audi cars when amazinBimmer bashes them? You're defending the M5, and GermanNut isn't even putting it down like "amazin" was bashing the RS6.

The new RS6 will be a monster. Can you say, "fastest sedan in the world?"
Think about it. S65 AMG is the current fastest sedan in the world. It has 604hp but weighs about 5,000lbs. The RS6 will probably weigh about 300lbs less, with 571hp. It will be quicker, but whether or not it has a higher top speed remains to be seen.
If it doesn't, tuners will make short work of it. I can see a 700hp RS6 coming very easily for them.
