A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning fleet testing of Mitsubishi Motors’ zero on-road emission iMiEV electric vehicle with the Principality of Monaco was signed yesterday by the Principality of Monaco, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, Mitsubishi Motors Europe B.V. and MC Automobile (Europe) N.V., a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation. The MoU demonstrates the common interests of the parties in exploring EVs for the sake of sustainable mobility. It is the intention of Monaco to acquire a fleet of EVs that has the least CO2 emission rating, to use for electric transport, and desires to be a leader in the field of EVs among the nations of the world.

As the forerunner in the development of EVs, Mitsubishi Motors would like to take advantage of the opportunity it sees in a partnership with Monaco and as a test market for the iMiEV. Consequently, beginning the end of CY2009 a line of i MiEVs will be provided to Monaco’s local community service organizations, such as the telecom office, post office and other organizations like Monte Carlo SBM hotels and casinos.
