Production Buick Invicta, Cadillac Provoq and Chevy Cruze coming by 2010
Okay so while most of you are probably shaking your head at GM after CEO Rick Wagoner’s cost-cutting plans that were revealed earlier this morning, vice chairman Bob Lutz had a special bloggers-only conference call in which he revealed some future product details.
First and foremost, doing the FoMoCo thing, GM will align its U.S. product portfolio to resemble its European and Asian - with more fuel-efficient vehicles. Moving on, let’s go down the list of the things that Lutz discussed.
First, Saturn is struggling. According to Lutz, the brand is not generating enough volume. He confirmed that the next-generation Aura has been put on hold for a few more years. Second, a production version of the...

Surprising, since saturn's lineup, while very narrow, have decent designs. Maybe they should refrain from changing the names every year

Saturn does not have a product problem. Saturn has a marketing problem.
You say "Saturn" to most people on the street today they still think, "Isn't that the ugly little plastic car that lesbians drive?"
Most people are surprised to hear that Saturn has all new products that are largely from Europe - and likely some of the best that GM has to offer. Astra, Aura, Vue, etc...
Problem is, nobody knows it!

they should have killed saturn and brought over opels
IMO i think they would sell much much much better with and opel nameplate instead of saturn
and saturns reputation was " the plastic rental car"
but hopefully would change with there new cars from Opel.

Sorry, but that Buick is HOT. If it looks anywhere near that in production form.....well, I still wouldnt buy it since Im 30 years too young for a Buick, but I will at least admire it when I see one.

Was that Buick? I thought that was a BMW 5 series with a Buick logo on it.
Thing is, so many automakers copy BMW design. So pathetic.

^That looks nothing like a 5 series. You must know nothing about cars. Go back to your play pen.

I don't know to many 60 year olds who would drive a car that looks like that regardless of brand name.
The car looks amazing and if Buick produces it as is it should do very well.
Heck, if Cadillac can start having young buyers come to their dealers so can Buick, all they need is the right cars and the right marketing.

Sadly, the only similarities the production Invicta will have with the concept car is the waterfall grill, albeit smaller and less aggressive, and a mild character line running across the shoulder that merely suggests the committed crease in the sheetmetal of the concept. In the end, it will look like a Lucerne with an aero package with overhangs too long and a ride too soft. Or they can actually grow a pair of balls and produce the concept car as is, give it superior performance like they haven't done since the Grand National and have a poor man's 5-series to offer. Not a bad thing.

you have to remember that some people actually prefer a softer car. there is a lucrative market for Lexus and a new improved Buick.
p.s. the poor-man's 5 series is here already. It's called the Pontiac G8. It is the truth. Drive one, you'll see.

Well I'm 31 years old and if that production Invicta looks anything like that badass concept(interior and exterior), I don't care if Buick is supposedly for old people, I'll take my chances and get one.
