Unlike some of the more scary recalls from the likes of BMW and Ford as of late — you know, the ones where the car can self immolate — this one sounds like a walk in the park. Honda's luxury division, Acura, has a bit of a light problem.

According to the company-issued press release detailing the recall, about 9,700 units of the 2014 and 2015 Acura RLX will have both headlights replaced at no cost to the customer. The reason is pretty simple: the reflective film that is inside the headlights may come off resulting in an auto that does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108.

This is a voluntary recall and will be carried out on Acura's own accord.

If you own an RLX, the company is recommending that you take it to your local dealer and have it evaluated. If you'd like to find out if you have an affected RLX, check out Acura's website recalls.acura.com or call (800) 382-2238 then select option four.

Be safe out there, Spies!

Acura's press release follows:

Statement by Acura Regarding Headlight Recall: 2014-2015 Acura RLX

Approximately 9,700 model-year 2014-2015 RLX vehicles affected in the U.S.

Headlight assemblies in affected vehicles to be replaced, free of charge

TORRANCE, Calif.

Acura will voluntarily recall approximately 9,700 model-year 2014-2015 RLX vehicles in the United States to replace both headlight assemblies, free of charge. The reflective film backing material inside the headlights may delaminate, which may result in the vehicle no longer conforming to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue.

Acura is announcing this recall to encourage all owners who purchased an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Acura. Mailed notification to customers will begin in early-Feb. In addition, owners of these vehicles can determine if their vehicles require repair by going to recalls.acura.com or by calling (800) 382-2238 and selecting option 4.
