When you look at the midsize and large sedans that are on the market today, you probably should have noticed something in the past several years. Mainly that they've all gotten much more interesting looking. This is a good thing.

Though one could argue that this class of consumers aren't looking for cutting-edge designs and visually appealing products, you wouldn't have to look too far to see that's not really true. When the Hyundai Sonata came onto the market its sales were great because it was a competitively priced vehicle but also because it looked unique compared to the rest of what was out there.

With vehicles like the Kia Optima, Toyota Avalon, Ford Fusion and Mazda 6 — to name a few — on the market, every player has to step up their game. That would include the next-gen Nissan Maxima, which currently has a bar of soap thing going for it right now.

Now a blog recently received photos from a source and the good word suggests that this is the next-gen Nissan Maxima and it will appear at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. Obviously it's a bit of speculation but I certainly hope that it really does happen.

It looks great!

Note the clamshell roofline a la the Nissan GT-R and Saab 9-5. Note the MUCH more aggressive facade. The whole vehicle has a very premium feel and THAT's what needs to shine through to win more sales for Nissan.

What say you, Spies?
