Radical Gas Prices Are Leading to Radical Car Choices By Consumers
As fuel prices continue to surge, almost three-fourths of consumers in the market for a new vehicle have been impacted by the rising costs. Purchase time and the vehicles they are considering have been the most affected, according to the most recent Marketing Research study from Kelley Blue Book's Kbb.com.

More specifically, 42 percent of the survey's respondents claimed they are taking themselves out of the market and postponing their next vehicle purchase.

Thirty percent, meanwhile, indicated they have changed their vehicle preferences due to gas prices or have been led to look at vehicles they wouldn't have otherwise considered.

But you would drive a Ford or a GM? That like eating out of a bin rather than at a restaurant!

I find it to be retarded to be so biased. I used to hate domestic cars, but I had good reason to. Now they have improved, and I am actually impressed, especially with GM's latest offerings, and yeah that new G8 is nice, but they are about 29k for a v6 here where I live. Right about now I wouldn't mind having a volkswagen rabbit tdi.

Well, the chevy equinox engine is made in china, the g8 is australian, the aveo is korean, most of their other cars are made in canada. The nissan titan was desinged here in America by an American, the tundra was designed and built here, and both are only sold here, the dodge is built in ,mexico, so with that being said I'll take an American titan with a standard 317hp v8 over a mexican dodge with a wimpy 3.7l v6. and the nissan cost less, and you don't have to spend all that extra on a v8 because the only engine offered with the titan is the 5.6l 317hp v8. Research what American is, most japanese cars here have more american parts and content that our own brands.

An American brand doesn't necessarily equate to American components, as 85bmw745i so astutley pointed out, and a foreign brand may be made right here in the US by US workers. This reminds me of a story I heard where a city council elected for John Deere tractors rather than the cheaper Kubotas (or whatever make it was) but the US brand was actually made overseas.
The US manufactures got mfat off of the US public for many years manufacturing and selling high profit margin SUVs. Now the crunch is on and it looks like they didn't place nough research on lower profit gas saving vehicles. Where have we seen a similar patern before? Oh yeah, the last gas crisis. Some people (and manufacturers) never learn.
