1) 2011 BMW 5-Series: Reserving final judgement until I see it in person, however it looks FANTASTIC in the preview pics.2) 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class: I really like the more blocky and angular look of the new E.3) 2011 Infiniti M: Looks interesting with the new design. However, I'm waiting to see it in person.4) 2010 Jaguar XF: The XF does nothing for me. I park behind one at work almost daily and while the design is clean, it just doesn't get me going.5) Cadillac CTS: I give GM credit for pushing the angular design language on the CTS. But personally, it just isn't my cup of tea.6) 2010 Audi A6: I have never been a fan of the A6's styling -- always looked bloated to me.7) 2010 Lexus GS: A lackluster car with a lackluster design.8) 2010 Hyundai Genesis: This car is no competitor to the 5-Series. When they don't even put the company's logo on the grill of the car, you know they have issues.— HSCenterconsole (View Profile)

The E Class has a brutish, confident and bold architecture about it. The new 5 Series is lithe, athletic and, in comparison to the E, a much lighter appearance. The A6 is ancient. The Jaguar XF has, from the very start, always looked like an old Mazda design to my eye. The CTS has a strong front, but very weak rear 3/4 angle: awkward transition from roof to rear fender. As for the other cars on that list, who cares? (Especially the Hyundai.)— 204E60 (View Profile)

The upcoming Audi A6 will look just like the upcoming brand new Audi A8, except smaller. Oh wait - the same can be said for BMW's future 3-series in comparison to the just-released 5-series.Hey, I could care less because both Audi and BMW proudly carry their exterior design themes (LED front/rear lights and big grille for Audi along with angel eyes, kidney grille, rear tail lights for BMW) as well as interior design themes (very similar looking interiors in all models) from their flagship car down to the rest of the lineup. This would be called establishing a brand identity - something Mercedes-Benz should learn. — GermanNut (View Profile)

"This would be called establishing a brand identity - something Mercedes-Benz should learn." There is enough brand identity in these new Mercedes designs inside and out. My family has owned several Mercedes' over the years and despite changing interior designs, the ergonomics and "where things should be" feeling remain the same. Traditional Mercedes customers will feel right at home here.— Wimmer (View Profile)

Mercedes Benz doesn't have the least bit of a problem with "brand identity." Their cars are recognizable by non car enthusiasts and 5-year olds from a hundred yards. — 204E60 (View Profile)

which the new A8 looks hmmm just like a current one with a new front and rear end, hmm so I wonder what Audi has up its sleeve for the A6 based on the styling theyve been putting out, lets see a car that somehow looks like previous generation"s" with a new front and rear end and new interior.......so passe— bmwdrvr (View Profile)

"Classic" isn't the issue with "brand identity." Brand identity is all about recognition. It may not look "classic" (whatever that is these days), but it is undeniably a Mercedes Benz. Anyone can see that. — 204E60 (View Profile)

"4) E-Class - the interior of the new E is a real letdown imho"Dumbest post I have seen on here in awhile from a non-lexus rah rah, the build quality of the new E-Class interior is excellent. Look at some videos of it on youtube. The wood down to the rocker panels is very good quality. The last generation e-class interior was the one to criticize not this one.— Deutschland (View Profile)

The Jaguar XF gets my vote as #1 with the new 5 Series #2 only because the rest of the competition is so weak. BMW has gone back to the sausage concept instead of being a trend setter. Too bad!— 4ron (View Profile)

Jaguar XF - Nice!2010 Infiniti M - The new styling looks promising. I am very hard on cars but I actually was not overly impressed with the bloated G37 syling (but will hold my final judgement for when it comes out).Audi A6 - I actually like the A6 (even still). I think its underrated.BMW 5 Series - im not seeing it. Bland and to conservative in my opinion. This late in the automotive game, I was expecting something a little more outside of the box.MB E Class - Do not care for the new styling. Inside or out.Caddy CTS - Still an old mans car.Lexus GS - boring, bland styling that is in need of a redesign fast! My prediction is that I will say the same once they actually go deliver a redesign (sad)! Why is the Genesis included in this? If that is the case, we would need to include the Avalon and Maxima as well. This car gets way to much credit (nice tho, but come on)!— 0to60 (View Profile)

I mostly agree, but I think the new E-Class looks much better in person. pictures don't do it justice, but its design seems to really work in real life. the 5 series is quite derivative of the new 7 and 3, but I honestly think it works best here, because they took the best aspects of each car and the proportions of the 5 series really makes the best of those aspects.— pushrod27 (View Profile)

DaHarder, I think you've nailed it, for the most part. From a LOOKS/DESIGN perspective ONLY...1. CTS: It's all in the eye of the beholder, but I think the CTS is an incredible design. IMO, exactly what it should be - a complete break with the past, while absolutely looking like (the best of) Cadillac. I can't see how any one can call it an old man's car based on the design. I'll admit it's hard to get past the old image, but from a design point of view, it's spot on, especially since it looks like nothing else.2. The 5 Series. What he said^. Could be a touch fresher, but looks great.3. A6 - still a great looking car, but geting dated, and yes, perhaps a bit bloated looking.4. Jag XF. Good looking, nice details, sporty looking. But just does not do what I want a Jag to do for me - it just doesn't stir the emotions like an old Jag. And I don't mean that it needs to look old and retro. Flawed it may be, but I really like the new XJ.5. Lexus GS. Good looking car, underrated in terms of design. I think it's sharp.6. Mercedes. It's grown on me, yes, but I still think the front is fussy, the crazy character lines are silly, and the profile of the greenhouse reminds me of a last-gen Accord. I like the back. 7. Hyundai. What he said^. Nice looking, but really is way too derivative. 8. Infiniti M. I'm no fan of the current model, but the new one is better, but looks a bit cartoonish to me.— Hachee2001 (View Profile)

Hyundai GENESIS?? Are you really comparing this car in the same genre/class/design scheme/appeal as the others in this list??? I don't know what's up with the Autospies over the last 12 months, but it seems like the writers here are on the Hyundai PAYROLL because you've been worshiping absolutely anything they've put out. Maybe it's all a part of their new marketing assault to start paying bloggers of influential sites. You should really cut it out though. It's getting downright disgusting. — bentdeez (View Profile)

The Jaguar XF and Lexus GS still do it for me. These are two very attractive cars with sexy sloping rooflines. The Lexus has always been underrated (because it's a Lexus). The 5-Series isn't WOW-ing anyone but it is a nice redo. Also, if the Genesis is so low on everyone's shortlist, why even continue to mention it?— Anthony (View Profile)

I actually like the current 5, the exterior of the new one didnt really change anything that makes me like it more/less. Interior looks much better. My ranking is for my personal desire to own each car, not necessarily which one is "the overall best"...XF-RM56550E500A6CTSGSGenesis— M35MT (View Profile)
