Rare Ford GT40 crashed after just 3 days ownership
Just the third in a series of only ten ever to be built, the unfortunate Ford GT Roush 600 RE you will see below only saw three days of (ab)use before its untimely death. A new example is shown above for reference. The hyper-limited edition 612bhp beast wasn’t even broken in yet, with only 512mi (819km) on the odometer. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, the ten cars picked to become Roush 600 REs were the last ten Ford GTs to roll off the production line - ever. Read on for the gory postmortem shots.

The lone bright spot in the midst of this tragedy is the engine and gearbox - they came through unscathed, or nearly so.

Obviously the work or some european putz...the plate on the Ferrari looks like a UK plate, which is fitting, considering the car is produced in England.

One of those rare occasions when the undeserving received exactly what was coming to them...

Note: Though it's good that no lives were lost.

This is not a GT40--misleading.

I love the Ford GT. I know a guy who collects, and he gave me a ride in his. WOW. It simply blew me away. So I guess Jeremy Clarkson knows a thing or two.

The car is in a scrapyard in Bury, Lancashire, UK. It looks to be the car "Autocar" tested in May '07.

Bidding reached £11,400 ($26,700), but the seller removed all bids.

The car has been assessed as a "Category B" by the Insurance Assessor. In the UK Category B Insurance claims means : "the vehicles body must be crushed, but may be used for supplying some replacement parts".

It can never be registered for the road again. Stops wrecks being put back on the road again. Or being used as a "ringer".
