Real 2008 Honda Accord photos surface- STUD or DUD?
So much for a press embargo on new images of the Honda Accord!

Because we weren't invited to the press launch in Boston, we're free to show these to you...GREAT WORK HONDA PR!

Here is the new Honda Accord in the flesh.

Now the big question is...is it a STUD or a DUD?

Is it a winner or has the Honda design lost its way?

Definitely A Stud, Take a look at the current gen. Accord...hideous...this is definitely a step in the right direction. Good competitor for the Camry for sure.

I like it very much. It is starting to look like the Acura in the tailights.

The coupe is a little more stylish but the sedan has a great look too.

Why are all of the Asian brands trying to make their cars look longer? It doesn't look as substantial as the current car, it looks stretched out. The brightwork looks like an attempt to ape the Passat.

I think it looks much better than the present design. Its difficult to decide just by looking at pictures. It seems to illecit the same response Honda strives for and that's that its just "ok", not hot or cold.

It's designed for Americans...bit bland but still...STUD.
Looks quite premium, more so than its rivals ie Camry or perhaps even Passat.
But it doesn't fit in with the rest of Honda's line-up (in Europe at least). I hope the Euro Accord is more adventurous.

Does anybody else think this is quite an American-looking vehicle? I don't know why I get that impression but it doesn't seem very Japanese.

And yes Rupert it looks very American, just like the time when Lexus offerd GOLD emblems on their cars. Not very Japanese hehe. (the Japanese are very sobre people, they don't like bling at all)

Gold and chrome on a car is bling.

It's good enough. I agree that it is kind of a hodge-podge of copied design cues (And not all good ones either), but that's fine for the Accord. After all, they don't want this to eat into sales of the upcoming TSX.

As long as the interior is well executed I'll probably buy one to replace my '98.

Coupe is better than the sedan, but both look better than the current generation Accord. Honda Element grille is a little odd.

The rear-end updates done to the current Accord a few years ago were horrible.

It is good to see a new Accord regardless. It seems like there are way too many new Camrys out there.

I personally think it looks good. It looks classy, understated and dignified. Unlike the ricer wannabe camry, and the overly zealous altima, this looks befitting of a family sedan. Graceful, and elegant, but under that sheet metal, it outhandles any of its competitors, with an interior not rivaled by any competitor in it's class.

Shape-wise, especially in the windows, I see a lot of BMW, Infiniti and even Hyundai in it. But the front and back is pure Honda/Acura design. It's much better than the last model but I don't think Toyota, Nissan, Saturn or even Hyundai has anything to worry about.

All of the Accord's competitors have to worry. Most people love the Accord, regardless of it's looks. Some of the older generations of Accord were really ugly compared to it's competition, but they still sold in heavy masses.

And, I think it achieves its goal.
When people buy a $50K sedan, it better looks "good" to them.
On the other hand, when people buy a $25K sedan, it just needs to look "OK" to them.

STUDLY. This thing will sell well. Rear looks more like present Accord and the RL made whoopie and this is the result. Front is sufficiently aggressive. I certainly see BMW and a more European flair, especially from the side view. Not a bad thing for this price point. Don't really see Saturn but do see a little Hyundai in the trunk curvature. Hey, Honda's stealing back from them from the complete theft with the present Sonata.

Dud. Better than the current Accord but that's not saying much. The current accord is absolutely BLAND and dated. The Accord's archrival Camry had a much bolder and successful styling update. I thought Toyota was overly conservative with their styling. When did they surpass Honda? As others have mentioned, the rear lights are very Saturn-like.
Not embarrassingly ugly but we should have expected much more from Honda in this new model.

When are the Japanese or Korean starting to use their own ideas? Why do they always have to copy bits and pieces from other cars? Really cheap in my opinion.

brainwashing? I never heard of CR before until all these article from them but when my dad bought an accord when he came to this country (twenty yrs ago), he bought a Honda accord, cause his best friend also works at a honda dealership. he didnt have no time to find a bookstore and find out, he tried out himself. my dad took it for a ride and then liked it, with only one major problem solved and one minor problem taken cared of, he was happy with it. he would like a bmw 3er, but it was too expensive for him to cover repair costs, etc.
