When you think of the word "reliability" and pair it with "car," most likely the first brand that comes to mind is Toyota. Once known for building some of the strongest and most reliable vehicles to grace this planet, the company is coming under heavy fire due to recent events.
First it was the floor mat issue where drivers had unintended acceleration. Now, it is what Irv Miller, Toyota U.S.A. Group VP, says is "...sticking accelerator pedal mechanisms..."
The worst part? About 1.7 million cars have BOTH issues.
Yikes.
Toyota has built a solid name for itself in the automotive industry for building the best of the best. Due to this, it is all up in the air, as far as I see it.
What do you say, AutoSpies? Has the recent events at Toyota effected your opinion of the king of reliability?

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports:
"Toyota Motor Corp.'s recall of 2.3 million cars and trucks for faulty gas pedals further damages the reputation of the Japanese brand, which had built its customer base on its reliability.
Thursday's action came on the heels of a recent recall of 4.2 million Toyota and Lexus products because floor mats could cause the accelerator to jam down. The company said in a statement yesterday that about 1.7 million autos are subject to both recalls.
"In recent months, Toyota has investigated isolated reports of sticking accelerator pedal mechanisms in certain vehicles without the presence of floor mats," said Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A, Group Vice President Irv Miller.
The vehicles involved include the 2009-2010 RAV4, 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2005-2010 Avalon, 2007-2010 Camry, 2010 Highlander, 2007-2010 Tundra and 2008-2010 Sequoia..."
