While Nissan dealers have achieved their sixth highest profit in their history in 2007, Nissan executives think that’s nothing to be proud of. At a meeting with dealers, Nissan executives pointed out that with new models, rising market share and with a new and improved certified used vehicle program on the way profits will be a key aspect in 2008.

Nissan encouraged dealers that with the new Nissan GT-R and a redesigned Maxima on the way, sales per store are expected to increase. Especially for those 691 GT-R certified dealers. Al Castignetti, Nissan’s new general managers said that the GT-R agreement requires...

a northern california dealer i know was allocated 4 gtr's, and is expecting $130,000 a piece. Even if they dont sell anything else, thats a hell of a lot of sentras.

The Maxima is a wonderful car but fuel lines and brake lines should be made of stainless steel and last the life of the car -- a Maxima-owner friend had to replace these lines at high cost because they rusted out.

That sounds like a plan. I can't wait to see the new Maxima. I've always been a Max fan. I hope they were able to recapture its 4DSC soul.

I got a friend that works at the dealer. He says the new Maxima is the best looking yet. Sportier, faster...made to look like a 4 door coupe... CLS-ish

Thats good for Nissa, but do you really think a total of 1500 Nissan GT-R will really drive sales in the big picture?

I agree with dugit, I think its a gimmick to bring people into the showroom, and sell them the Maxima.

If you take what you have now and your current model range and sell say 200,000 cars (est.). Then you go and add a new model to that. Of course your numbers will go up.

But 1,500 units being produced this year at let's just round it to $60k, gives you and extra $90 million in gross sales. So even though Nissan itself won't see all that money, it's still not a number to scoff at. Even for a multi billion dollar company.

And a revamped Maxima, kinda interested to see what this looks like and offers. Seeming as the Altima has become the #1 car in their lineup, you see less and less Maxima's around.

And if they could redesign the Sentra to be less of a cardboard box, it would be more appealing.

if the maxima impresses me that much with the redesign, i might get it over the 335i coupe.

KZ258, I know exactly what your saying. I owned a Maxima for many years, and I loved that car. I can afford many cars that are more expensive then the maxima, but if they produce a good one, then I will be all over it.

MAxima will have an AWD option... so i could see it staying FWD standard...

I liked the Maximas too, I think the current design isn't much especially the first version of it that had just horrible interior quality. I really hope that the next generation will complete overwrite this chapter and also hope that they'll make the Maxima a rear wheel drive even though this is just a dream.

The Maxima was my first car, a 1990 model. Great car for it's time. Here are my suggestions for reviving the Maxima to what it used to be:

-cleaner, tighter design (not big and bloated. not with gimmicky design details like the last 2 generations had)
-more compact dimensions (Nissan already has the Altima as the 'family car')
-AWD system tuned for performance (like a WRX or EVO)
-no GLE model. just a Base and a Sport model for extra performance.
-sporty high quality interior. I'd prefer a few slivers of REAL aluminum over yards of silver plastic.
