While it looks like 2010 will feature some interesting and unique original designs, there is always room for some reincarnated goodness. Although it has been a bit overkill as of late, retro is "in," and you cannot deny its good looks.
For instance, the latest Chevrolet Camaro and Ford's recent iteration of the GT40 are head turners. Even if you dislike their powertrains or interior accoutrements, I would say it is likely any individual would be hard pressed to say they did not find their designs striking and handsome.
This brings us to the biggest tease of them all: the 2006 Lamborghini Miura concept. Now, the original Miura can be best described as sex on wheels. The car is low-slung and is cutting edge while not being over the top. It is like the ideal person you want to meet in the club; risque and interesting, but you can take them home to mom -- maybe.
The zombified version, seen at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show, was equally stunning.
Although most of its design traits are lifted from the original, there are plenty of little details that are given a modern touch. Example "A," look at its foglights that bear the LP560-4's "propeller" look. Lamborghini Design Chief, Walter de'Silva, drew up this drop-dead gorgeous concept in order to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original's introduction in Geneva.
Sadly though, Lamborghini's President and CEO, Stefan Winkelmann, confirmed that this concept would not hit showrooms, saying “The Miura was a celebration of our history, but Lamborghini is about the future. Retro design is not what we are here for. So we won’t do the Miura."
FAIL!
