Revealed: Camaro SS
The new Camaro has been a long time coming, with concepts on the scene for the past two years and more than six years since the last Camaro was produced.

The hot SS variant is taking even longer than the standard car, though these photos show what appears to be the final version of the fastest Camaro, expected to be powered by an LS3 V8.

It looks damn good even though I am not a big fan of muscle cars. Much better than the mustang or challenger

I'm a big fan of high-end German, Italian and some British sports cars. A Porsche 997 Turbo is the best car I've ever owned. However, dollar-for-dollar and smiles-per-miles, I bet this Camaro SS is an even better value. It looks good, looks like the body construction is tight and nothing beats the burble of an American V8. Hope they'll offer it in RS versions as well. The wraparound front-end stripe was a classic back in the 60s. I'd even like to see hidden headlamps come into vogue again. Job well done, Chevrolet.

One beautiful car, but I got sick of hearing the hype around it abouth 6 months ago when it should have been on the market already. GM should have kept this car a secret for a little while longer.

It's my favourite between this, the Mustang, and the Challenger.

Wow!!! Absolutely NO surprises here! LOL! We have seen this car for over 3 years now and it still has yet to hit the streets. I fear the General screwed this one up, I would have tried to hide this car as much as possible until the day it came out, because now the car seems old to me already. Like it has been out for years.... Oh yeah! It has been!!

You do realize the mustang put the camaro out of business in the first place?

No it didn't. Poor planning on GMs part put the Camaro out of business. They put a low volume chassis in an exclusive contract w/ a high volume plant and then didn't update it like ALL coupe cars need after a few years. Frankly Mustang owns the market for sporty 2 door coupes and will continue to do so but Camaro should knock the Challenger out of 2nd place relatively quickly.

That's not really true. The Camaro always wiped the floor with the Mustang in terms of performance. (The last F-bodies - Camaro SS & Firebird WS6 ran with 300+ horsepower, while the most powerful V8 Mustang of the day could only muster about 260)

Mustang was a more practical car and it sold better. Bad product planning from GM. Those F-body cars were terrible to get into and out of, and also visibility from the inside wasn't great. More women purchased Mustangs - that was it's sales lead. The Camaro was a car that only men could love.

If I'm not mistaken, Ford has a restyled Mustang coming at around the same time as this Camaro breaks. I guess that's what can happen when you show your cards too early as Chevy did by showing the concept 3 years before the production car.

But I do like the looks of this Camaro. I used to get a lot of enjoyment out of the Camaro/Mustang rivalry and I'm glad to see those days coming back.
