Revealed: First Official Pics of Hyundai Veracruz
Hyundai Motor will start selling its first luxury crossover, the Veracruz, in the U.S. market in December.

The new seven-passenger people mover, slotted in above the Santa Fe, is intended as competition for higher-end SUVs and crossover vehicles.

The Veracruz was formally introduced on Thursday in its home market, and the first official images were released on Hyundai's Web site.

The vehicle clearly is a sibling of the Santa Fe, with softly flowing lines and a fuller figure. It is equipped in the Korea-market version with a 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine that makes 240 horsepower. The full-size CUV will be aimed in the U.S. market at such upcoming domestic entries as the Saturn Outlook and the Buick Enclave, as well as larger Japanese competitors like the Mazda CX-9.

Next year, Hyundai hopes to sell a total of 85,000 units of the Veracruz, including 65,000 in the United States and other markets outside Korea. The automaker has announced no plan so far to build the CUV in the U.S. plant that currently makes the Santa Fe.

Your right, but they are playing the safe field and adding design cues that they already know are catching people's eyes.

I just think its funny how some of you even mention the Lexus and Infiniti in the same sentence with Hyundai....There's the key.. If you can't afford the big dogs, heres you option...

Lexus and Infiniti the big dogs...don't make me laugh.

If you can't afford the REAL big dogs G-class, H1, Range Rover, Cayenne etc......then get a Hyundai, Lexus or Infiniti.

BTW Bubba, the Hyundai has better value, better reliability, and a better warranty than your Lexus or Infiniti.

Big Dogs? Referring to what price? Ever seen the sticker on an LX 470? Or even a Lancruiser perhaps?

"Does this Hyundai have nearly as many luxury qualities than the RX?"

I'm sorry, but yes, it probably does. The market place is moving at warp-speed, and I'm sure this car has a high-quality interior, a backup camera and a high-end audio system available.

Let me guess, next all you will tell me that "Hyundai will surpass Toyota in the next 3 years!"

why do so many lexus fans say the same thing, that lexus will surpass bmw/audi/merc in the next 3/5/10 years?

I bet not even a Bentley is as luxurious as your Lexus.

Why are you getting mad at Hyundai? They are doing the exact same thing Lexus was doing 10-15 years ago.

IMO the only thing missing is a good luxury name like "Lexus"

Hyundai already have competitive pricing, just as luxurious, more reliable, better warranty than Lexus.

TOILET is getting a taste of their own medicine and I'm loving every minute of it. GO HYUNDAI GO!!!

Yea and just wait until Hyundai creates their own luxury brands and starts to threaten Mercedes by comming out with very competitive vehicles.

Hyundai made a good decision to rip off the Lexus RX. We all know how popular the RX is, but what I like about this Hyundai is that they chose to include 3rd row seating.

It's too bad that they steal Lexus' reliability.
