Revealed: Mark VI Golf GTI and new VW cabrio
The Volkswagen Golf GTI is one of the most sought after models in the Golf lineup and has even proven to be the favored choice over the more powerful R32 in most markets. Its combination of a punchy drivetrain, slick gearbox and understated styling have won it many fans over the years and it’s a recipe VW won’t want to mess around with for the next-gen model due next year.

The new model will retain its FWD layout but drops the current 200hp (150kW) engine in favor of a more powerful 2.0L turbo four with an available 230hp (171kW).

This is a good looking car but i wonder how it will handle 230hp through the front wheels.

The Golf GTI 30 edition already has 230hp. The Seat Leon Cupra which is based on the same platform even has 240hp.

S4: yes, but the mazda has A LOT of problems trying to get that power down...seen it quoted 7.2 0-60 , almost a second slower than factory numbers...just impossible to launch this car without wheelspin :)

I agree with both of you... but doesn't it also have splendid handling and power once you actually get it going?

I love how front ends on cars are starting to look like guitar amplifiers.

Check these out!

I HATE articles like this... you guys really lead me on. This is NOT the new GTI. It's a photoshop of the GTI W12 Concept. And it's not great from the front, but I really like the side surfacing.

When I saw this article title, I was thinking, "Wouldn't they have to introduce the new GOLF first?" But then I realized this was fake.

And why in God's name would they make another Cabrio? They already have a New Beetle Cabrio AND the EOS!

This is yet another 'rendering/speculation' from one of the least credible sources on the entire internet...

How difficult is it to pen an evolutionary version of the same basic design VW has been using for decades?

This is not the new Golf, just a speculative photoshop.

The shoulder line that runs under the windows and to the back of the car is directly from the Mazdaspeed3...as in it was photochoped in there. It makes it look un-VW (as most VW's have clean, smooth sheetmetal for the most part).

I agree, this is complete speculation. Obviously p-shopped, why would they use the same Huff's (the wheels) they've been using for over 6 years now? And this isn't much of a deviation from the MKV. So why bother?
